Dr. J. H. Hastie
Dr. J. H. HASTIE, of Baldwin, was a Whig of intelligence and large reading, not only in politics, but in the general literature of the day. Without attempting any particular display of his abilities upon the floor, he attended closely upon the sittings of the House, and watched its proceedings, so that he might be prepared to vote understandingly on all questions. His finely cultivated taste, and high position in the social circles of Mobile, brought him much in society at Tuskaloosa, where he was highly esteemed for his agreeable address, and gifts in conversation. He still resides in Baldwin county.
