Jim B Averitt
Jim B. Averitt, 80, born in Sunny South and a resident of Theodore, died Sunday, May 15, 2005 at Providence Hospital.
He was an engine room foreman for the Mobile Reserve Fleet. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He received the Purple heart and served in Normandy on D-Day.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Wayne Averitt of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Ricky E. Averitt of Columbus, Ga.; a daughter, Patricia Sessions of Mobile; three sisters, Frances Williamson of Pine Hill, Bernice Strickland of Chickasaw and Jessie Lee Walton of Rabun; a half-brother, Preston Williamson of Chickasaw; two half sisters, Lois McMillan of Crossroads and Juanita Lynn of Creola; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 17 from the chapel of Norris funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Haase officiating and burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Military honors were rendered at the graveside by the U.S. Army Honor Guard Unit.
Arrangements were made by Norris Funeral Home, Bay Minette.
