Roy Cleveland Adams

 

A native of Butler County, AL and a resident of Montrose, AL for 25 years, died at home on February 17, 2001, after a lengthy illness. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Fairhope, AL for 29 years where he taught a men's Sunday School class for many of those years. After serving 2 years in the Navy during World War II, Mr. Adams attended the University of Alabama, receiving his Masters Degree in 1951. He spent 10 years in education as a teacher and/or principal. Upon his retirement from the IBM Corporation after 31 year s, he spent 8 years at Bishop State Community College teaching computer science and serving as Director of Personnel. Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eloise Rasberry Adams, Montrose, AL; two daughters, Kathryn (Paul) Pierce, Fairhope, AL and Jeannie Edwards, Birmingham, AL; three grandchildren, Sgt. Paul (Sabine) Pierce, Jr., Wurzburg, Germany, Deborah (Tak) Walden, Orlando, FL and Adam Edwards, Birmingham, AL; two great grandchildren, Sean and Andre Walden, Orlando, FL; one brother, Henry (Jane) Adams, Panama City, FL; one sister, Ruth Mitchell, Bay Minette, AL. Visitation will be from 6 P.M. to 9 P.M., Tuesday evening, February 20, 2001, at Fairhope Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held from the First Baptist Church of Fairhope, Wednesday, February 21, 2001, at 10:00 A.M., where the body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Rev. A.B. (Bubba) Sawyer and John Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope. Arrangements made by FAIRHOPE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 19698 Greeno Road, Fairhope, AL 36532.
