BOSWELL
My family is from Choctaw County, the Boswell and Stewart families. My grandmother was Evie Lou Ezell, married to Joseph Henry Boswell. Evie Lou's father was Henderson Ezell, possibly married to an Ethridge. Does anyone have information on the Ezells? I don't have a birthdate for Henderson or any other information.

Thanks so much,
Frankie Hepburn

BOUTWELL

I am seeking information on my great-grandfather, William Henry Boutwell [8/27/1855-1/19/36], his parents, and siblings.  He was listed as age 4 in the Choctaw County 1860 census in Grove Hill as family #459.  Parents: William Matthew Boutwell and Louisa E.  Siblings: Matthew R, Lewis S., Lavinia A., Rachel C., Amanda M., Martha L., Sarah J., and Mary L.  William Henry moved to Jasper County, MS and married Cornelia Olivia "Dolly" White.

BROWN/GARRISON
Need help finding descendants of Frederick Cecil Brown (1884-1974), son of Gideon D. Brown and Amanda Brock. He had several siblings and many children. His wife's name was Myra E. Garrison. They lived and died in Choctaw county from 1884 onward. If anyone knows Fred Cecil Brown or his wife, I would like to meet you and share family photographs.

Thank You.

MCGEHEE/GRANTHAM
Clara Joanna McGehee b. Shanty Grove, Choctaw county, Alabama, ca. October 1862. She married Elisha Scott Grantham, unk date and location. Her father, as far as I can tell was Wm. Jackson McGehee b. 23 Feb 1818 in Tennessee. Elisha and Clara subsequently moved to Fla where they had children. One of those children was my Grandfather.
This information came from my mother. I have tried to research it further but have had little luck. What is here has been, for the most part, substantiated through online research. That data which is missing is either questionable or missing. If you have question contact me via dsk621@msn.com.
Thanks

MILLS
Hi, I am interested in information about the Mills family who came to Choctaw in the 1830's. A James Mills came in the 1830's, and he, or his heirs obtained land there. They appear to have mostly been planters. One son was a physician. They had many slaves. An Alfred T. Mills went to Texas, and he is my ancestor.

Sincerely,

TOWNER
I am one of the great great granddaughters of Lott and Caroline (Nicholson) Towner. I have submitted an Obituary to the Genealogy Trails to Choctaw County, also the validated facts from the 1860 Federal Census.

Lott Towner was born about 1850. He died July 10, 1914 in Isney, Alabama. Lott had several siblings. Most identities are unknown with the exception of two brothers. John, who resided in Warmack Hill, Choctaw, Alabama. James, who also lived in Choctaw. We are unable to validate a Nubus, whose name was documented in a Family Bible.

Fact findings shows the family traveled extensively to and from N.Y., Va., Ms., Al., and La. before the Emancipation Law went into effect. It is possible, this family were "free blacks."

Lott Towner married Caroline Nicholson about the year 1881-1877. They had twelve children. Caroline died April 26, 1922 in Baldwin, Alabama, leaving behind thousands of "off-springs."

Obituary dated 1914- contributed by his great great granddaughter, Sandra Meyers-Dawson.

Caroline Nicholson-Towner: The 1860 -1920 Federal Census documented different years as her date of birth. July 4, 1953 is recorded in the family records as her actual birth date. The identity of her parents have not been confirmed, but believed to be Emanel (Emanuel) and Louisa Nicholson of Pike, Alabama. If my research is successful, her siblings will be noted.

Lott Towner married Caroline about 1881-1877. They had nine girls and three boys: Orah, Mary, Fanny, Phoebe, Lougenia, Tempe, Daley G. (Dossie) Pearl, Edward, Carlee, Luther and Leroy. I am Fanny's great granddaughter. There are thousands of others from the "Tree."

Obituary dated 1922- contributed by one of Caroline's great great granddaughter, Sandra Meyers-Dawson.
