Slocomb Killed In Geneva County

Tenant Surrenders for Death of Respected Farmer; District Attorney Investigating

Hartford, Ala., July 3--Special to the Advertiser.--F. M. Slocomb, a highly respected farmer living three miles east of Hartford, was killed by Noah Whittle, a tenant on the Slocomb farm, between 9 and 10 o'clock this morning. Whittle surrendered to the sheriff at Geneva, driving over to the county seat immediately after the killing. He has made no statement, but it is understood that the men engaged in an altercation over business matters which resulted in the death of Slocomb.

Deceased leaves a wife and one daughter residing in Hartford. The body was brought to her home and the funeral will be conducted from there on Wednesday.

The circuit solicitor, J. Norton Mullins of Dothan, is here making an investigation of the case.
