Mrs. MARY ALYCE GODFREY
Mrs. Mary Alyce Godfrey, 54, of 2257 Forestdale Blvd., died yesterday.  Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Bell Funeral Home, with burial in Crumley Chapel Cemetery.  She was born in Morgan County, but lived most of her life in Jefferson County.  She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church.  Survivors include her husband, Richard Donald Godfrey, Forestdale; a sister, Mrs. Myra McPherson, Anniston, and a brother, Earnest R. Doss, Falkville.

CARL A. GOODWIN
Carl A. Goodwin, 75, of 1507 Sixth Avenue, Bessemer, who died Wednesday, was a native of Johns.  He had worked for U. S. Steel 40 years.  Funeral was today at Browns-Service, Bessemer with burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.  He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Lucille Harmon, Miami, Fla., Mrs. Leona Elsner, Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. Hazel Simpson, Fultondale, and Mrs. Erma Smith, Lipscomb and two sons, Earl Goodwin, Eugene, Ore., and Ralph Goodwin, Lipscomb.

Mrs. ELIZABETH NEAL HALL
HALL -- Mrs. Elizabeth Neal (nee ALLISON) HALL, of 240 N. 54th St., passed away at a local infirmary Thursday morning. Survived by the son, Ralph S. HALL, B'ham; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services from Johns Chapel Friday at 11:30 a.m., Rev. Albert Branscomb officiating. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Johns Chapel.

Former Cullman Man Dies in Wreck.
Jimmy Hall, Race Driver Killed in Car Race
Was Former Employee of Giles Motor Company

James Albert (Jimmy Hall) 28, well known former resident of Cullman, was fatally injured Sunday afternoon when his racing car plunged from a dirt track in Alberquerque, N. M., before 1500 spectators. He died in a hospital there on Monday.

Jimmy Hall and Red Dozier were former managers of the Giles Motor Company here and were both well known and popular over the city. Hall was an expert mechanic and was a well known racing driver, having kept a racing car here for several months. His parents reside in Birmingham.

Hall was thrown 25 feet from his car as it hurtled through a fence.

He had been a driver of racing automobiles for five or six years and had been away from Birmingham since December. He had driven races in a number of cities, including Chattanooga, Atlanta, Montgomery, Birmingham, and others.

His brother, John Hall, was killed 10 years ago at Wichita Falls, Tex. in an attempt to change from an automobile to an airplane.

Jimmy had attended Central High School in Birmingham and was a graduate of a chiropractic school at Davenport, Iowa.

Surviving, in addition to the parents are four sisters, Miss Mildred Hall and Miss Bessie Hall, Birmingham; Mrs. H. T. Foddrill, Atlanta, and Mrs. B. F. O'Steen, Florence, Ala., and two brothers, William L. and Harry Hall, Birmingham.

The body was expected to reach Birmingham Thursday morning.

RALPH S. HALL
HALL, Mr. Ralph S, age 67, of 2201 Vestavia Drive, passed away Tuesday morning at a local hospital. A native of Burmingham, Mr. HALL was owner and operator of Hall Feed and Grocery Store. He was a member of Vestavia Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Sadie Evans Hall. Funeral services Wednesday 2. P.M. at Johns-Ridout's Southside Chapel, Dr. L. D. Tyson officiating. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers, Edward Greer, Wheeler Griffin, M. C. Crawford, Ben Davis, Jake Goodson, John Alsbrook. Johns-Ridout's 2116 8th Avenue, South,directing.

SYLVESTER HALL
Plan HALL Funeral.- MacDonald To Conduct Rites For Retired Grocer, Feed Merchant.
Funeral services for Sylvester HALL, 66, retired grocer and stock feed merchant, found dead in bed at his residence, 240 North Fifty-Fourth Street, with a bullet wound in his head, will be conducted at 1 p. m. Wednesday at Luquire's Woodlawn Chapel. The Rev. Frank MacDonald will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
A .38 caliber pistol was found near the body. A finding of suicide was returned by County Investigator Evans. He said members of the family said HALL had been in ill health. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Elizabeth HALL and a son, Ralph S. HALL, of Birmingham.

FORNEY, April 7 -- Funeral services for Leo Simpson Hester, 79, long-time resident, who died following an extended illness were held Friday at Bethel Baptist Church. The Revs. Herman Lindsey, N. S. Strickland and H. L. Blalock officiated. Burial in adjoining cemetery. Perry Funeral Home directing.

JOHN H. HILMER, JR.
John H. Hilmer, Jr., 45, of Trussville, who died Friday, was retired from Western Electric after 24 years.  He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and of Holy Infant of Prague Catholic Church and of the Holy Name Society.  He was a Veteran of World War II and Korean War.  Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Infant of Prague Church with burial at Forest Hill, Roebuck Chapel directing.  Surviving are his wife, a son, John H. Hilmer, Miss June Hilmer and Miss Karen Hilmer, all of Trussville; two brothers, Col. James E. Hilmar, Ft. Lewis, Wash. and F. L. Hilmer, San Lorenzo, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Florence Davis, Virginia Beach, Va. and Mrs. Betty E. Bentley, Atlanta, Ga.

SUSIE ELIZABETH BELCHER HORSLEY
Age 83 of Mt. Olive, died Monday, January 26, 2004. She was born on September 14, 1920. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Gardendale. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 29, at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by Fred B. Belcher, W.H .Horsley, and one son, Donald Ray Belcher. Survivors: son, Robert E. Belcher; daughters, Betty Nabors, Nell Mosley, and Janie Tibbals; 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; brother Roy McDowell; sisters, Louise Pennington, Virginia Tunstill and Ann Youngblood. Ridout's Gardendale Chapel directing.
