ALMON E. THIGPEN
, 60, Florence, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000.
Visitation was Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, 6-9 p.m., at Spry Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral will be Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home chapel, with burial in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Brother James Alvin Thigpen Sr. officiating.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Lauderdale County, and a former employee with the city of Florence, having worked at Florence City Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Thigpen; and by a brother, James Thigpen.
Survivors include his mother, Lula Lee Thigpen of Florence; sisters, Ellen Carroll, Helen Bunt, Audrey Thigpen and Peggy Parrish; brother, Harlon Thigpen; 16 nieces and nephews.

, 82, Florence, Ala., died Monday, March 5, 2001, at ECM Hospital of a brief illness. Visitation w as Tuesday, March 6, 2001, 6-9 p.m., at Green Hill Funera l Home.
The funeral will be Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at 1 p.m. a t Green Hill Funeral Home chapel, with burial in Green Hil l Cemetery.
Officiating at the funeral will be Brother Drew Jameson.
He was a native of Lauderdale County, Ala.
He is survived by his wife, Verdie Mae Thigpen, Florence, A la.; son, James Edward Thigpen, Houston, Texas; brothers, M elvin Thigpen, Greenhill, Ala., J.C. Thigpen, Greenhill, Al a.; grandchildren, Sherri Lynn Reves, Houston, Texas, Mar k Edward Thigpen, Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cape Thigpen and M attie Lee Lanier Thigpen; brother, Tollie Thigpen; sisters , Dessie Thigpen Clemmons, Bellamae Thigpen and Perline Thi gpen.
Pallbearers will be Mark Thigpen, Ray Fowler, Tim Fowler, C harles Brown, Larry Gist, E.L. Riley.
He was a retired truck driver for Browns Ferry for a numbe r of years. He was a member of Green Hill First Baptist Chu rch, Greenhill, Ala., and a veteran of World War II.

ROBERT ALLEN THORNTON
- Funeral services for Robert Allen Thornton, 64, former Lauderdale superintendent of Education, were held today at 3 p. m.
Thornton was assistant director and counselor at Allen Thornton Area Vocational and Technical School, named in his honor, at the time of his death. He died Saturday following heart surgery at University Hospital in Birmingham.
Thornton served as superintendent of Lauderdale County Schools from 1953 to 1969 and had spent most of his professional life teaching and administering education programs in the county.
Services were held at Morrison-Elkins Chapel in Florence with Dr. O. S. Gamble officiating. Burial followed in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
A member of North Wood United Methodist Church, he is survived by his widow, Christine Thornton, Florence; one sister, Mrs. Birdie Shaw, Florence; one brother, John M. Thornton, Greenhill.
Active pallbearers were Phillip Gamble, Roy Price, Johnny Johnston, Hollis Smith, Don Littrell, Warren Parker and David McFall
TFANNIE THRASHER
- Final Rites Held At Wesley Chapel
Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Thrasher, aged 72, of Cloverdale were held this morning at 10 o'clock at Wesley's Chapel, with Rev. S. W. Brooks in charge. Interment was made at the cemetery there, Morrison and Phillips being in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Thrasher died Tuesday morning at 4:30 at El Reposo sanitarium, near here. She had been a life-long resident of this county.
The active pallbearers were Carl Koonce, Sam Haddock, Allen Hendrix, D. M. McCorkle, and Lee Anderson.
Mrs. Thrasher is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Elmer Hitchcock, Mrs. T. E. Thrasher and Mrs. R. J. Darby, of Florence; Mrs. Kornie M. Adams, of Waterloo, and Misses Sallie, Mary Jo and Maud Thrasher, of Sheffield; three sons, Pugh Thrasher, of Cloverdale, Willie Thrasher, of Florence, and John Thrasher, of Sheffield; one brother, Reeder Smith of Cloverdale, and two sisters, Mrs. Marion Bevis of Waterloo, and Mrs. G. L. McCorkle of Florence.
ROBERT CLARK TICER
, 73, was born Feb. 12, 1892. He died Jan. 26. 1966 at ECM Hospital at 7:00 a.m.
Survivors include his wife, Virgie Mae Ticer, Waterloo, Ala.; four daughters, Mrs. Virgil McFall, Ocesola, Ind., Mrs. Bill Green, Witchita Falls, Kans., Mrs. Almon Simpson, Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Junior Richardson, Florence, Ala.; four sons, Raymond, Bessemer, Ala., James, and Arnold both of Florence, Ala., Robert of Arkansas; 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mrs. Homer Jones, Waterloo, Ala., Mrs. Ben Brown, Florence, Ala., Mrs. Lois Peters, Florence, Ala., Mrs. Clarence Young, Indiana.
Mr. Ticer was buried at Williams Chapel Cemetery, with Virgil H. Gean, Sr. conducting the funeral.”

KAITLIN LEE TIDWELL
, 6, Florence, Ala., died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at Greenview. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Greenview Funeral Home chapel. Kaitlin was a native of Lauderdale County.
She is survived by her mother, Kisha Gean Kelso, Florence, Ala.; father, Keven Lee Tidwell, Florence, Ala.; stepfather, Billy Kelsoe, Florence, Ala.; sister, Kelsie Gean, Florence, Ala.; brother, Koby Gean, Florence, Ala.; maternal grandparents, Junior and Deborah Gean, Florence, Ala.; paternal grandmother, Beverly Tidwell, Florence, Ala.
Kaitlin was a kindergarten student at Central High School.

DEXTER HAMILTON TUNE
, was born on August 15, 1902 in Lauderdale County, Alabama, the son of John J. and Polly Ann Scott Tune. Mr. Tune was a farmer, and a member of the Bumpus Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
On December 27, 1925 he was united in marriage to Hilda Austin who preceded him in death on December 5, 1960. He was then united in marriage to Katherine Alexander on April 11, 1969, who preceded him in death on April 21, 1980.
Mr. Tune departed this life on January 10, 1991 at the age of 88 years, 4 months, and 25 days. Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Vernell White of Brookville, Illinois, Mrs. Earline Holcombe of Waterloo, Alabama; 2 step-sons, Billy Morgan Alexander of Savannah, Tennessee, Bruce Alexander of Savannah, Tennessee; 4 grandchildren and 7 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-great-grandchildren.”
