ALMA LOUISE (BEDDINGFIELD) VAUGHN , 87, of Athens, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at Limestone Health Facility. She was born Aug. 23, 1918, in Lauderdale County to Arthur Jackson Beddingfield and Dora Belle Richardson Beddingfield. She was a member of Cartwright Church of Christ. She retired in 1980 from Limestone Health Facility, where she worked as a nurse for more than 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Webb Vaughn; one son, Jerry Vaughn; one daughter, Betty Joyce Vaughn; and two grandsons, Jimmy Hudson and Tony McLemore. She is survived by two sons, Charles Vaughn of Elkmont and Melvin Vaughn of Athens; four grandchildren, Michelle Garner and Angela Vaughn, both of Elkmont, Artie Vaughn of Grundy, Va., and Sharon Patterson of Rogersville; a half-brother, Hubert Beddingfield of Rogersville; two half-sisters, Geneva Green of Titusville, Fla., and Dorothy Newton of Killen; five great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Artie Vaughn, Rickey D. Patterson, Randy Roberson, Terry Garner, Preston Boyd and James Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Young and Elbert Young.
JOHN EDWARD VAUGHN , The funeral for Mr. John Edward Vaughn (Boney) will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Elkins Funeral Home Chapel, Florence, with Brother Steve Reding officiating. Burial will follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Mr. Vaughn, 98, went home to be with the Lord, with his loving family at his bedside. He was a native of Lauderdale County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Odell Vaughn; parents, John L. and Delphia Vaughn; daughter, Martha Louise Vaughn; brothers, Rayburn, Turner and Douglas Vaughn; sisters, Alma Jolly and Imogene Ernest; great-grandson, Cody Walbert. Mr. Vaughn is survived by daughters, Doris Johnston, of Florence, Mary Lee Franks (Tommy), of South Bend, Ind., Glenda Cox, of Florence, and Bobbie Goins, of Florence; grandchildren, Vikki Howard (Jim), of Laporte, Ind., Steve Johnston (Lisa) of New Carlisle, Ind., Cathi Walbert (Jim), of New Carlisle, Ind., Jamey Goins, of Huntsville, Dr. Kevin Cox (Kelly), of Nashville, Tenn., Keith Cox (Beth), of Florence; 14 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild; sisters, Pauline Burns, of Muscle Shoals, and Mary Belle Hall, of Georgia; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Vaughn was a retired painter with TVA and a volunteer dispatcher with the Underwood Petersville Fire Department. He was a member of St. John Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Pallbearers will be Kevin Cox, Keith Cox, Tommy Franks, Buddy Broadfoot, Kenneth Bailey, David Creasy and Don Montgomery.
JIMMIE MAE VINES , 49, Cypress Inn, Tenn., Rt. 1, died Saturday morning in E. Florence. The body will be at the home of a son, Wesley Vines, Collinwood, Tenn. Services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. from Rogers Chapel by Willie Daniels. Burial will be in Rogers Cemetery, Loretta Memorial Chapel directing. Surviving are the husband, James Pleas Vines, Cypress Inn; three sons, Billy, Iron City, Rt. 1; Roger, Wesley, both of Collinwood; two daughters , Mrs. Judy Austin, Muscle Shoals; Mrs. Dorothy Staggs, Collinwood; four brothers, James and Roy Lee Smith, Florence; Vernon Smith, Cloverdale; Curtis Smith, South Bend, Ind.; seven sisters, Mrs. Effie Bates, Arkansas; Mrs. Pauline Bates, Florence; Mrs. Virgie Wallace, Florence; Mrs. Virginia James, Michigan; Mrs. Frances Smith, Florence; Mrs. Laverne Lindsey, Waterloo; Mrs. Lillian Hones, Florence; six grandchildren.”
