John Simpson first came to America in 1818. He was born 17 August 1790 in Belfast, Tyrone Ireland.
John Simpson settled in Florence Alabama and became involved in the
mercantile business. At the end of seven years he must have gotten homesick - or maybe he just wanted to go back to Ireland
and find himelf a wife. Or perhaps he returned to Ireland to find the "girl he left behind".
He married Margaret Patton 21 October 1824 in Belfast, Tyrone Ireland, they set their sails for America immediately
where they lived happily ever after, right here in Florence AL. Margaret Patton, also of Belfast, Tyrone Ireland
was born 30 Sep 1794, the son of Isaac Patton.

James Patton Simpson married Mary Ann Foster, 27 Sep 1846, the daughter of George Washington and Sarah Independence (Watkins) Foster. She
was born 15 October 1830 - died 30 March 1853. They had one daughter, Sarah Foster Simpson 16 Dec 1851 who died
26 May 1852 and is on the same stone with her mother. After the death of Mary Ann,
James married Cornelia Foster 26 July 1855, the daughter of Ephraim and Jane Lytle (Dickinson) Foster.

John Cotton Simpson Jr. was born 12 November 1829 in Lauderdale Co AL. He died 21 July 1861 in the Civil War in Manassas Va.
John was a 1st Lt. of the Lauderdale Voluntees Co H 4th ALA Inf.

Robert Tennent Simpson married Mattie Collier.
Their children are Robert Tennent (Jr) 1864, Nettie C. 1867, Mary C. 1868, Marguerite 1871 and Kate 1875.
Robert Tennent Simpson Jr. born 16 April 1864 died 7 May 1942. Robert married Cornelia (Moody) who was born 20 June 1869 -
died 24 May 1962. Cornelia was the d/o Henry Altamount and Martha (Kaeiser) Moody.
