WATERLOO SCHOOL Named for John D. Weeden of the Sweetwater Plantation who gave the land for this school during the 1920's. It became a part of the city school system in 1951 when this section of town was annexed to Florence. Three years later construction egan on the newly combined Weeden Elementary and Junior High School at the head of Fifth Avenue. Excerpt of "A Walk Through The Past"
