Confederate Soldiers Buried at Athens
Editor PicayuneIn the cemetery at Athens, Ala., there are forty ex-confederate soldiers buried, all of whom died In battle in and around-Athens. Recently the ladies have had them moved from the various portions of the cemetery and buried on contiguous lots. The ladles wish to place marble headstones over these fallen heroes and to encompass the lots with a stone coping. That there are friends of some of these dead soldiers who may wish to contribute to such a worthy cause there Is no doubt, hence, we give below a list of those of this Immortal forty whose names are known, together with their command, and earnestly request any and all their friends and, comrades-in-arms to aid us in erecting some slight token in memory of these noble men who died for their "native land".
