ROUNDTREE Family of Alabama

Jesse Roundtree and his wife, Delphy Lawson Roundtree, settled in Pike County Alabama.
The Roundtree family appears in the Pike County Alabama Census in 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880.

The 1850 PikeCountyALCensus lists:

Jesse Roundtree (39)
Delpha Roundtree (34)
Adam Roundtree (15)
Susannah Roundtree (13)
Sarah Roundtree (11)
Stacia Roundtree (9)
John Roundtree (6)
Wellborn Roundtree (4)
Wiley Roundtree (0)
AND....
At the house next door is Delphy's mom, Susan Lawson, and family listed as:
Susan Lawson (64)
Winwright Lawson (27)
Martha Lawson (24)
Mary Lawson (3)
John Lawson (1)

The 1860 PikeCountyALCensus lists:

Jesse Roundtree (46)
Delpha Roundtree (44)
John J. Roundtree (16)
Wellborn Roundtree (12)
Nancy Roundtree (7)
Emily Roundtree (5)
Laura Roundtree (1)

The 1870 PikeCountyALCensus lists:

John (Jesse) Roundtree (58, born in NC)
Diffie (Delphy) Roundtree (55, born in Georgia)
John Roundtree (25, born in Georgia)
Wellborn Roundtree (23, born in Georgia)
Nancy Roundtree (17, born in AL)
Emily Roundtree (15, born in AL)
Laura Roundtree (11, born in AL)

The 1880 Pike County AL Census lists:

Delphy Roundtree (66, Widowed, born in Georgia, father and mother both born in VA)
John Roundtree (31? Head of Household)
William (?Wilborn?) Roundtree (28?, born in Georgia)
Emily Roundtree (20?, born in AL)

Note: The census in 1880 apparently has incorrect ages for the Roundtree kids based on their ages in the previous census. Delphy is listed as the 66 year old widowed mother of the head of household (John), and, in the 1870 census John was listed as 25. So by 1880, John would have been 35 not 31. In the 1870 Census, Emily was 15, so, by 1880 she would have been 25 not 20. By 1880 Nancy ("Ollie") Roundtree had left the family and married Henry T. Weaver.

My great grandmother was Nancy Olivia "Ollie" Roundtree (b. 26-Sept.-1851). She married Henry Towers Weaver (on 1-Jan-1874) and they settled in Salado, TX.
