Senator Overton Weds At Wedowee.
Roanoke, Oct. 31--(Special)--At 10 o'clock Wednesday morning in Wedowee, the county seat of Randolph, the marriage of Hon. John William Overton to Miss Bertha Weathers took place.
The ceremony was performed by Rev. W. P. Cofield, pastor of the Baptist Church, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Weathers, and was witnessed by a company of interested friends and relatives. At noon a splendid dinner was served in courses to the bridal party.
Mr. Overton is well-known throughout the State as one of the leaders in teh Senate of Alabama. He is a practicing attorney at Wedowee, and was elected without opposition to represent the Ninth Senatorial District.
Mrs. Overton is a member of one of the most prominent families in this section of the State. Her father served one term as Probate Judge of this county. She is regarded by a large circle of friends as one of the most estimable and intelligent young women ever reared in Randolph County.
Mr. and Mrs. Overton will be at home for the present at the Stewart Hotel, noted as the old-time residence of the late Governor William H. Smith. Next Tuesday they will leave for Montgomery, where Senator Overton will resume his official duties during the special session of the Legislature.
