The 14.3 acre cemetery is located one-half
mile southwest of the village of Bony (Aisne), France on a gentle slope
typical of the rolling Picardy countryside. This cemetery
contains the graves of 1,844 United States military dead from World
War I. Most of these soldiers lost thier lives while serving in
American units attached to the British Army or in operations near
Cantigny. The headstones are set in regular rows and seperated into
four plots by paths that intersect at the flagpole near the top of the slope. The cemetery is maintained
by the American Battle Monuments Commission. |
