Memorial services for Harry H. White, 66, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the North Star United Methodist Church in Nikiski with Pastor Billy Still officiating. Mr. White died Nov. 24 at Providence Hospital.
Born in Jewell, Kan., on Aug. 3, 1919, he came to Kodiak at the age of 2 1/2 months and moved to the Matanuska Valley at age 9. He graduated from Wasilla High School. He married Alex, his wife of 45 years, in Anchorage in 1940. Mr. White was a bush pilot since the early 1940s. They moved to Kenai in 1947 and worked for the Federal Aviation Administration and the state highway commission. He was a member of the Kenai Elks Lodge No. 2425; the Pioneers of Alaska Igloo No. 1 in Nome; and past commander of the Civil Air Patrol.
He is survived by his wife, Alex, of Nikiski; two sons, Skip and Butch of Kenai; one daughter, Irene Varhaug of Washington; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Helm of Orofino, Idaho; and eight grandchildren.
