Pop 200. Located on the right bank of Port Clarence Bay at the entrance of Grantley Harbor, about 80 miles nw of Nome, the nearest banking point. It was settled in 1900 and is the supply point for the Graphite, Gold Run and Kougarok mining districts, also the tin regions on Cape Prince of Wales. It has 2 general stores. There is a U S commissioner and a U S deputy marshal located here, also a U S jail. The government reindeer station and a Lutheran mission are located 6 miles n. The Sunset Ditch, 27 miles long and operating Sunset Creek, is opposite the town. Mail by boats. E. J. Gehrmann, P.M.
