The total loss of the Union Army was 134 killed, 898 wounded, and 29 missing - 1061. The strength of McClernand's expeditionary force was about 32,000 infantry, 1000 cavalry, and 40 or more peices of artillery.

General McClernand reports 5000 prisoners captured, and General Sherman says that 4791 prisoners of war were embarked on transports.
