W. H. Knoll; Retired Rice Grower, Dies
.....Almyra---William H. Knoll, early rice grower and former mayor of Almyra, died at his home here Tuesday morning.
.....He was a native Cloverdale, Ind., and came to Arkansas in 1905. He and a brother, George Knoll, planted the first crop of rice in Prairie Dell community in 1908, and Mr. Knoll operated the first tractor in the section.
.....He was a member of the Universalist church and of the Almyra school board.
.....Surviving are three sons, Orville and Howard Knoll of Almyra and Everett Knoll of Stuttgart two daughters, Mrs. George Gordon and Mrs. Ray Sebring of Almyra; three brothers, George and Grover of Almyra and Arley Knoll of Stuttgart; and four sisters, Miss Susie Knoll of Little Rock, Mrs. Thomas Paris of Almyra, and Mrs. W. V. Naanes and Mrs. Nick Mace of Brazil, Ind.
.....Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Almyra Baptist church, the Rev. Taylor Daniels and the Rev Robert Core in charge.
