MABLE LEWIS JEFFRESS, 92, of Crossett died Friday, March
3, 2000, at the Hamburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born August
9, 1907, to David Oscar and Carrie McDonald Lewis in Jonesboro, LA, she
was a teacher for 37 years, a life member of the Arkansas and national
Retired Teachers Associations, a member of the Louisiana Tech
University Alumni since 1934, and a member of the United Methodist
Women and the First United Methodist Church of Crossett. She was
preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, and her husband, Jewell
M. Jeffress.
Survivors include a special nephew, John David Allen of Crossett; three
great-nephews, David, Donald and Calvin Allen, and many other nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5, in the First United
Methodist Church of Crossett with Rev. Larry Williams. Burial followed
services at the Unity Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of

HAMBURG, ARK–
BOBBY E. JONES, 58, of Hamburg, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, outside of Portland, Ark.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday at Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg,
Ark., with the Rev. E. W. Ricks officiating. Burial followed in Mr.
Pleasant Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.
Mr. Jones was a native of Rosedale; a resident of Hamburg, Ark., for the past 25 years and a former resident of Greenville.
He was a sub-contractor in the timber industry and a member of Rosedale Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Foster; his parents, Eli &
Ruth Redding Jones; two sisters, Mary Smith and Viola Miles; two
brothers, Harvy Jones and Eli Jones Jr.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Betty Ruth Corder Jones of Hamburg,
Ark.; three sons, Harvey Jones of Cleveland, Rodney Jones and Jeff
Foster, both of Hamburg, Ark.; two daughters, Cindy Tripp of St.
Petersburg, Fla., and Bobbie Ann Ford of Vancleave; a sister, Beatrice
Miles of Riverside, N.J.; six grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Keith Ladd, Mike Martin, Gregg Grantham, Howard Foster, Bobby Foster, Joe Mack Sullivan and Allen Ford.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, ARK--
MRS. MYRTLE W. JORDAN, 97, of North Little Rock died in the early evening hours
of Sunday, January 9, 2000. She was born in Southeast Ashley County to Rev. Neal
and Bess Walker and was the last surviving child of that union. She was a member
of the Levy Baptist Church where she served as W. M. U. president, senior adult
Bible teacher and associate Bible teacher for the outreach department of the
church. A member of the Retired Teachers Association, she spent 42 years as a
public school teacher in Ashley County. At age 46, she attained a B. S. degree
from the University of Arkansas-Monticello and at age 58, received a master's
degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. The last 26 years of her
career were spent in the Wilmot Public Schools, including 21 years as grade
school principal. She and her late husband, Emmitt G. Jordan, moved to North
Little Rock where she lived until her death. In addition to her husband, she was
preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
Survivors are a son,
Leland D. Jordan and wife Louise; granddaughters Kathleen Blackman and Dutchie
Wilson; five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral
services were planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, in the Levy Baptist
Church. Burial will follow services at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pinewood Memorial
Park.Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the North Little Rock
