MOUNTAIN HOME - W.H. "DUB" ADAMS, 63, a former communications technician for Southwestern Bell in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, entered into rest Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at his home in rural Baxter County, Ark., where he had lived for the last three years.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Flippin, Ark. The Rev. Steve Martin will officiate. Military graveside service: 2 p.m. Monday in Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Okla.
Mr. Adams was born in Dallas, Texas, on Jan. 21, 1936, to the late Earnest and Nora Smith Adams. He served his country and flag with honor, serving two enlistments with the Army and retiring from the Air Force Reserves. He married the former Helen Sue Smith and worked as an independent contractor for Lockheed, Boeing and Wylie Labs. Mr. Adams became a communications technician for Southwestern Bell and retired with 25 years of service. While he was with Southwestern Bell, he was a member of the Communication Workers of America. He moved to Arkansas three years ago from Tarrant County and was a member of First Baptist Church of Flippin.
Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Survivors: His wife, Helen Sue Adams of Mountain Home; son, Robert Samuel Adams of Groves, Texas; daughter, Lori Minshall of Arlington; sisters, Stella Mae Ferguson of Pulaski, Tenn., and Vivian L. Hollis of Richardson; grandchildren, William L. and Stephanie M. Maness; and stepgrandchildren, Noah, Jessica and Aaron Minshall.

BATON ROUGE, LA–MABEL T. CATHEY, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1992, at her residence in Olathe, Kan. She was 81, a native of Baxter County, Ark., and a former longtime resident of Baton Rouge since 1944.
Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd., 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Friday, conducted by Stafford Rogers and the Rev. Wolfe. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by husband of 60 years, Clyde M. Cathey, Olathe, Kan.; a daughter, Maureen Butler, Jacksonville, Fla.; three granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Laura L. Smith, Olathe, Kan., and Donna and Dave Sheren, and Karen and Tony Sayer, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Michael and Robert Sheren, and Elizabeth Byrd, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; mother, Mary A. Talbert,Texarkana, Texas; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Gladys and Roger Williamson, Roswell, N.M., and Ida Mae Lewis, Texarkana, Texas; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Joe T. and Nita Talbert, Stroud, Okla., and Mary Delle Talbert, Texarkana, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by father, a sister, three brothers, and a son-in-law.
Pallbearers will be Michael Ledet, Lawrence Marino, Chip Martin, Ronnie Martin, Dave Sheren and Michael Sheren. She was a member of Brookstown Baptist Church.

Funeral services for HAZEL CRAWFORD, 89, of Mountain Home, Ark., were held Nov. 23, 2005, at the College and North Church of Christ in Mountain Home with Brother Wayne Camp and Brother Ken Burton officiating. Burial was in Mammoth Cemetery. Mrs. Crawford died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, at Pine Lane Health Care in Mountain Home, Ark. She was born March 12, 1916, in Clarkridge, Ark., the daughter of George and Bertie (Gist) Simpson. She married Marshall Crawford Sept. 16, 1933, in Ozark County. Mrs. Crawford, a lifetime area native and member of a pioneer Baxter County, Ark., family, owned three grocery stores with her husband, two of them at Clarkridge. She also served as postmaster of Clarkridge Post Office. She was a member of the College and North Church of Christ in Mountain Home, Ark., and its Ladies Bible Class and was active in helping the visually impaired. Mrs. Crawford is survived by two sons, Bobby Crawford and his wife, Dyana, and Joey Crawford and his wife, Nancy, all of Mountain Home, Ark.; one daughter Marcelene Lloyd and her husband, Ted, of Searcy, Ark.; one brother, Rhoby Simpson of Tulsa, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Rees Lloyd and his wife, Mandy, Melissa Master and her husband, Robert, Kelly Martin and her husband, Tim, Stacey Covington and her husband, Rodney, Jason Crawford, Vanessa Martin and her husband, Tom, and Amy Barnett and her husband, Monty; 14 great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall; her parents; three brothers; and one sister. Pallbearers were Rees Lloyd, Robert Master, Tim Martin, Rodney Covington, Jason Crawford, Tom Martin and Monty Barnett. Gassville, AR--SARAH A. CRAWFORD--Funeral services for Sarah A. Crawford, 91, of Gassville, Ark., were held Saturday, Feb. 18, (2006) in the Roller Chapel in Mountain Home, Ark., with Brother Brent Hickey officiating. Burial was in Howard's Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Crawford died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006. She was born Dec. 14, 1914, in Mountain Home, Ark., the daughter of Walter R. and Ollie L. (Trivitt) Roberts. She married Wilbern Crawford July 24, 1925, at Clarkridge, Ark. She was a lifetime area resident. She was a member of the Wade and Cross Church of Christ and a homemaker. She enjoyed her grandchildren, quilting and cooking for family and friends.
 Mrs. Crawford is survived by five sons, Gene Crawford and his wife, Arlene, William Crawford and his wife, Nora, Willis Crawford and his wife, Betty Ann, Ray Crawford and his wife, Connie, and Ed Crawford and his wife, Edna; two daughters, Betty Golden and her husband, Doc, and Bertie Varner; 40 grandchildren; 92 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie Roberts and John Roberts; one sister, Nellie Davis; many nieces and nephews; the Bob Dilbeck family; and special caregiver, Vera Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two daughters, Gertie Dewey and Dovie Acklin; seven brothers; and two sisters.  Pallbearers were grandsons. KANSAS CITY, MO-- RUBY GLESSNER ERWIN, 84, south Kansas City, died Sept. 25, 1991, at Baptist Medical Center. She was born in Buford, Ark., and lived in Baxter County, Ark., before moving to this area in 1948.
Mrs. Erwin was a licensed practical nurse and did private-duty nursing before she retired. She also was a waitress at Max's Drive-In and the Drumstick and Fred Harvey restaurants. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include four sons, Gene Willis Erwin, Rockford, Ill., Glen Marvin Erwin, Woodlawn, Tenn., Ivan Alson Erwin, Bailey, Colo., and Ronald Lynn Erwin, Kansas City; three daughters, Rowena May Beavers, Palm Springs, Calif., Barbara Ruth Brown, Oak Grove in Jackson County, and Rosemary Lewis, Kansas City; two brothers, Roby Smothers , Albuquerque, N.M., and Ralph Smothers, San Bernardino, Calif.; three sisters, Rose Howlett, Tulsa, Okla., Reval McCord, Houston, and Ruth Young, Hemet, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Newcomer's Floral Hills Chapel; burial in Floral Hills Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the chapel.

RED BLUFF, CA - Memorial services for MACIE IVO HEERSEMA, 80, of Red Bluff will be at noon Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Elder Bob Divine will officiate.
Dedication of the grave will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Redding Cemetery. Richard Tenney will officiate.
Mrs. Heersema died Monday, Sept. 30, 1991, at her residence.
Born March 15, 1911, in Baxter County, Ark., Mrs. Heersema moved to Tehama County 18 years ago.
She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by daughter Peggy Pryor Bishop of Red Bluff; sister Evelyn Cockrum of Mountain Home, Ark.; and six grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Chapel of the Flowers in Red Bluff.

SIKESTON, MO–GENE HIPES, 66, of Mountain Home, Ark., formerly of Sikeston, Mo. and Bloomington, (IL) died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 22, 1994) at his residence.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. today at Sikeston City Cemetery, the Rev. Tom Geers officiating.
Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
He was born April 8, 1928, in Chaffee, Mo., a son of Ira and Ella Morris Hipes. He married Mary Sue Boone Nov. 10, 1949. She died May 6, 1988. He married Phyllis Witt Nov. 25, 1988. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Blaine, Farmington, Ark., and Brian, Washington; one daughter, Denise Stewart, Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.
Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Hipes served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Korea.
He was plant manager for Reiss Dairy in Sikeston, and worked for Laesch Dairy in Bloomington from 1978 to 1988.
He was a member of the Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114.

EVELYN E. KAESEBERG--A graveside service for Evelyn E. Kaeseberg, 83, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2501 E. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights, (IL). Mrs. Kaeseberg died Monday in a Mountain Home, Ark., hospital. She had moved to Baxter County, Ark., from Glendale Heights (IL) in 1984.
She is survived by a son, Arthur; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister.

Clarkridge, AR--Memorial services for DR. RICHARD LAFEVERS, DVM, 66, of Clarkridge, Ark., were held Saturday, Feb. 25, at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel in Bull Shoals, Ark., with Mr. David LaFevers officiating. Dr. LaFevers died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006. He was born Oct. 13, 1939, at West Plains, (MO) the son of J.D. and Ailene LaFevers. He married Margaret Morrow-King June 24, 1992,
in Yellville, Ark. He practiced veterinary medicine for 43 years, primarily in Missouri, and had a cattle ranch in Tecumseh for several years.
Dr. LaFevers is survived by his wife, Margaret; three sons, Rick LaFevers and his wife, Traci, of Galena, Scott LaFevers of New Mexico, and Rowdy LaFevers of Alaska; three step-children, Daniel King and his wife, Monica, of Los Angeles, Calif., Suzan McCracken and her husband, David, of Yellville, Ark., and Valerie Brison and her husband, Lyndel, of Mountain Home, Ark.; four grandchildren; his mother, Ailene Lock; three brothers, Jerry LaFevers of West Plains, David LaFevers of Little Rock, Ark., and Dr. Jim Lock of California; and one sister, April Fee of St. Louis. He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. LaFevers.

BULL SHOALS, AR - A funeral for OMER RUBEN LINDMAN, 96, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., will be at 11 a.m. today at the Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel in Bull Shoals with the Rev. Nicholas Lascaro officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Newton Flat Cemetery in Bull Shoals. Mr. Lindman died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005 in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Mr. Lindman was born June 21, 1909 at Maywood, Ill., to Frank and Annie Lindman. He married Bergit Torgersen. He was employed at Ludwig Dairy in Elgin, Ill., until he retired to Bull Shoals. He was an Army veteran and enjoyed fishing, camping and mechanical work. He was a member of the Mississippi Valley Packard Club, Hoevel-Barnett VFW #1341 of Bull Shoals and Methodist Church.
He is survived by three sons: Orin (Patty) Lindman of Dexter, Mo.; Kevin (Marlene) Lindman of Jackson, Mo.; Daryl Lindman of Bull Shoals; six grandchildren; Laura, Brian, William, Daniel, Arthur and Eric; brothers and sisters-in-law Bob and Marie Williamson of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; and Torv and Dot Torgerson of Pensacola, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers and two sisters.

ODEN, 40, of Mountain Home died Sunday, May 11, 2008.  Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at Mountain Home Church of Christ, College and North Streets with the family receiving friends from 6-8.  Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mountain Home Church of Christ with Ken Burton and Michael Lance officiating.  Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Peace in Baxter Memorial Gardens with Shane Parnell, Dwayne Lumpkin, Brian Garner, Brandon Garner, Kelly George and Brian Oden serving as pallbearers.  Shawn is survived by his father and mother, Gary and Liz Oden of Mountain Home; a sister, Stephanie (Forest) Zeltner of Mountain Home; two nephews, Justin Zeltner of Mountain Home and Caleb Zeltner of Moberly, MO; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was a member of Mountain Home Church of Christ, a graduate of Mountain Home High School, and enjoyed country music and NASCAR racing.  Roller Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.


BRIDGEPORT, TX - RUBY G. RAMSDALE PRIDGEON of Bridgeport, a homemaker, died Monday at a Bridgeport hospital. She was 87.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery.
Mrs. Pridgeon was born in Baxter County, Ark., and had lived in Bridgeport most of her life. She was a Baptist.
Survivors: Two daughters, Ozelle Dawkins and Faye Herndon, both of Bridgeport; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

FAIRHOPE, AL–GARVER R. PRYOR, a retired employee of the U.S. Civil Service and General Retirement System of Jefferson County, died Wednesday in a local nursing facility. He was 91.
A native of Baxter County, Ark., Pryor was a Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Alabama Peace Officers Association. He attended the University of Alabama and the College of William and Mary.
He is survived by his wife, Inis L. Pryor of Fairhope; and one brother, Harlin H. Pryor of Kansas City, Mo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Forest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

MOUNTAIN HOME, ARK--BEN F. “JUNIOR” TEEGARDEN, JR., 56, son of the late Ben F. and Eula Mildred Warner Teegarden was born Sept. 26, 1945 in Iuka, Ark. He died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001 in Mtn. Home, Ark.
He was a native of Baxter County, and went to school, worked, and lived there all of his life. He worked as a logger, bulldozer operator and farmer.
He was married to Carolyn Faye Sanders June 28, 1980 in Dolph, Ark.
He spent seven years in the national guard. He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Teegarden of the home; two daughters, Karen Ketchum of Yellville, and Kristy Williams of Bergman, Ark.; one son, Clifford Teegarden of Osawatomie, Kan.; three sisters, Bidnie Griffith of Chouteau, Okla., Peggy May of E. Wenatchee, Wash., and Sharon Sanders of Calico Rock, Ark.; three grandchildren, Sheldon Ketchum, Laken Ketchum, and Kindell Williams; many nieces and nephews; special brothers-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Rose Zella Teegarden; three brothers, Jimmie, T. J., and Howard Teegarden.
Graveside services were Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Galatia Cemetery with Wayne Wood officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home of Calico Rock.
Pallbearers were Rick Gwaltney, Dave Fender, Kenny Thornton, Dave Henderson, Mayo Hala, and Joe Hall. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Skidmore, Ken Thornton, and Butch Hale.

SUNNYSIDE, WA–ELSIE E. TURNER, 88, a longtime Sunnyside resident, died Thursday at Sunnyside Community Hospital.
Born in Baxter County, Ark., she lived in Sunnyside for 60 years.
Survivors include numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will occur at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Sunnyside Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, is in charge of arrangements.

EX-REP. VICTOR WICKERSHAM OF OKLAHOMA DIES AT 82
Victor Wickersham, 82, an Oklahoma Democrat who served nine terms in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1941 to 1965, died March 15 at a hospital in Oklahoma City after a stroke.
Mr. Wickersham also was a former Washington real estate broker and investor. He opened a real estate sales office in Northwest Washington after losing a reelection bid in the 1946 Democratic primary in his congressional district in Southwestern Oklahoma and he continued as a broker and investor in the Washington area after regaining the seat in the 1948 elections.
He was defeated for reelection in 1956 after widespread publicity about his real estate investments in Montgomery County, then regained his seat in 1961 and served until 1965, after losing the Democratic primary in the spring of 1964.
While in Congress he served on the House Armed Services Committee.
After leaving Congress, Mr. Wickersham served four terms in the Oklahoma Legislature before retiring in 1979. Last month he came out of retirement to become Oklahoma's oldest lawmaker after winning a special election to fill a vacancy.
Mr. Wickersham, a resident of Mangum, Okla., was born in Baxter County, Ark., and moved to Oklahoma when he was a child.
He worked in the office of the clerk of Greer County, Okla., then as a building contractor and later in the life insurance business in Oklahoma City before he was first elected to Congress in 1941 to fill a vacancy caused by the death of an incumbent.
