Crawford County Arkansas Genealogy Trails

--Fine, large peaches are selling in Van Buren for one dollar per bushel.
--Crops in Crawford look well.  The area planted will exceed that of any previous year.  (Source:  Little Rock Daily Republican, Sept. 2, 1873, contributed by Frances Cooley.)

 --Richard Jones, a prominent farmer living near Belmont was killed by a runaway team. Two children with him are suppose to be fatally injured.  (Source:  Sandusky Daily Star, Sandusky, Ohio, July 12, 1902, contributed by Linda Dietz.)

--Mystery surrounds the murder of Samuel Randolph, aged 80 years, owner of a general store at Dogtown, two miles from Mulberry, whose body was found in his store at an early hour Wednesday morning. A large gash, apparently cut by a blunt instrument, was found in the back of his head. This wound had caused his death.  (Source- Harrison Times 10/31/1908; transcribed by Tina Easley.)

Ham, W. T., Van Buren, Ark.—Ex-Vice- President of the Arkansas State Union. For three terms President of his County Union. Twice County Lecturer; has attended four National Conventions, four State Conventions. Has done quite a lot of organizing. A good worker.
