SC–WILLIAM ERVIN BENNETT, 70, of North Charleston, a retired
construction worker, died Wednesday at his residence. A memorial
service will be at a later date. Burial will be private, according to
Liberatos Cremation Center.
Mr. Bennett was born in Conway, Ark., a son of Connie Bennett and Jewell Dixon Bennett. Surviving are a son, William E. Bennett Jr. of Chaffee, Mo.; three daughters, Deborah Green of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Aleshia Bader of Scott City, Mo., and Tonyua Townsend of Chaffee; and a brother, Chuck Bennett. --Post and Courier, The (Charleston, SC) - July 23, 1999. ![]() CHARLENE
BLAKEY, 73. Born January 13, 1931 in rural Faulkner County, AR to Troy
and Myrtle Quattlebaum. Charlene passed away December 5, 2004 after a
long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D.
Blakey. Charlene is survived by five children: Randy Blakey, Cabot, AR;
Ron Blakey, Suwanee, GA; Rick Blakey, Lewisville, TX; Diane Wilkerson,
Grand Prairie, TX; and Brian Blakey, Marietta, GA; nine grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Blaylock, Little Rock, AR,
also survives her. After being married September 25, 1948, Charlene
spent 56 years as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and
great-grandmother. Her greatest pleasure was caring for children.
Charlene was a resident of Irving, TX for 31 years. Visitation will be
Tuesday, December 7 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, 801 8th Ave.,
Conway, AR 72032 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will
be held Wednesday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

WESLEY D. BROCK, 42, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2010, at his
home. He was born Aug. 11, 1967 in Conway, Ark., the son of
Hubert Harvey and Doris (Eddleman) Brock. Wesley married Margie Rowley
on June 17, 1994 in Jonesboro. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Brock of Dongola; mother, Doris Brock of Dongola; one brother, Mickle (Anette) Brock of Dongola; two nieces, JoAnn and Manda Brock; two nephews, Rodger and Gage Brock; and other relatives and many friends. Wesley was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Rodger Lee Brock. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010, in Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, (IL) with the Rev. Dr. Rick Hertenstein officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive Cemetery in Dongola. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. BURCHFIELD, 81, died at 10:25 a.m. Sept. 11, 2001, at the Miner Nursing Center. Born March 8, 1920, in Wooster, Ark., son of the late John Lee and Mary Edna Wofford Burchfield, he was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Alabama during World War II and retired in 1978 from McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Corporation, after 27 years of service. Burchfield had also worked in the "Clean Room" on the space program for the Mercury and Gemini NASA flights. On Feb. 12, 1983, in Sikeston, he married Jeanne E. Maxwell who survives of Sikeston. Other survivors include: two daughters, Carolyn Sue Adkins of Kansas City, Mo. and Barbara Cahoon of Sikeston; five brothers, Wendell Burchfield of Newport Richey, Fla., Rudy Burchfield of Barnhart, Mo., Hartsel Burchfield of Lenexa, Kan., Harold Burchfield of Corpus Christi, Texas, and James Burchfield of Sikeston; four sisters, Maxine Sweat of San Francisco, Calif., Faye Cunningham of Wellington, Fla., Wanda Dye of Blytheville, Ark., and Pat Oswald of Bragg City, Mo.; and three grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Rick Lasley, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, will officiate. MARY ELLA BYRD, of 3204 Tate Road, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 1995, at University Hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary Temple Church of God in Christ, North Little Rock, Ark. Burial will be in Haven of Rest Cemetery. Mrs. Byrd, a native of Faulkner County, Ark., lived in Augusta several years. She was a retired beautician and a member of Friendly Church of God in Christ. Survivors include two sons, Dan Byrd, Augusta; and Richard E. Byrd, Philadelphia; two daughters, Mary Jane Westbrook, Elgin, Texas, and Joyce A. Tyson, Potomac, Md.; two brothers, Norman Acklin and Daniel Acklin, both of Conway, Ark. Friends may call at Williams Funeral Home.
