"D" OBITUARIES FULTON COUNTY ARKANSAS GENEALOGY TRAILS
BEN C. DAVIS dies May 28- Ben Clenard Davis, son of Frank and Mary Davis was born at Mammoth Spring, Ark., Nov 7, 1900, and passed away at his home in Mammoth Springs Sun., May 28, age 43 years, 6 months. He spent his entire life in and around Mammoth Spring. He was married to Lottie Whiteside Dec. 11, 1921 and to this union 2 sons, Benny C. and Buddy Joe, were born. He leaves his devoted wife, 2 sons of the home, 2 sisters, Mrs. John Stone of Kansas City, and Mrs. Henry Skaggs of Thayer, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted May 30 at Carr's Chapel by Mrs. Belle Mitchelle, with interment at Davis farm, Mammoth Spring, Leo Carr Funeral director. [1944] --Contributed by Christi Scovel. JOHN S. DAVIS, pioneer resident of Fulton County, Ark., died at his home Wed. March 16, 1938, after an illness of several months duration. Mr Davis who was past 80 years of age, was born in Webster Co., MO., a few miles south of the little town of Diggins, but for the past 65 years has made his home in Fulton County, Ark. In the year 1873 he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Burr, about the year 1876 he was again married to Mrs. Nancy Hayes, who preceeded him in death many years ago. In 1916 he was again married to Miss Martha Shultz. He had been an active member of the Methodist Church for the past 30 years. The deceased is survived by his widow and four brothers, Loerwood and (J.) Frank Davis, of Thayer, Henry of Neelyville, MO and William of Many Islands, Ark. His two sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Thur., by Rev Charles Wooldridge at the Davis Cemetery where burial was made. --Contributed by Christi Scovel. LARRY EUGENE DOWNS,
45, son of Ora Porter Downs and the late Adrian Downs was born Nov. 15,
1956 in Mammoth Spring, Ark., and died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001 in West
Plains, Mo. He was married Nov. 12, 1978 in Smithville, Ark. to Rebecca
Huckabee. He was later married to Sandy Kingston. He was a heavy
equipment operator and a sawmill worker. He served in the Army National
Guard and was a member of the Eagles Club #4231 in Thayer. He was of
