KANSAS CITY, MO–PERRY SANDERS,
73, southwest Kansas City, died Aug. 30, 1991, at the home. He was born
at Crossroads, Ark., and lived in Fulton County, Ark., before moving to
Kansas City in 1947.
Mr. Sanders was a mail handler with the Kansas City Terminal Railway, retiring in 1980. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
His wife, Nadine V. Sanders, died in 1984.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Sanders, Santa Ana, Calif., and Gary
Sanders, Louisville, Colo.; a daughter, Mary Lewis, Louisville; four
brothers, Claude Sanders, Salem, Ark., Thirl Sanders, West Plains, Mo.,
Cleston Sanders, Viola, Ark., and Cecil Sanders, Atascadero, Calif.; a
sister, Ada Lee Hamilton, Raytown; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Mount Moriah & Freeman
Chapel; burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to
8:30 p.m. Monday at the chapel.

MAMMOTH SPRING, AR–ROY THOMAS SIMS,
71, of Mammoth Spring, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001 at St. Bernard's
Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark. He was born Jan. 24, 1930 in
Wardell, Mo., the son of George and Mary Eva (Fourthman) Sims. He was
married to Lillian Savage on Sept. 4, 1948 in Piggott, Ark.
While living in Wardell he owned a service station and a grocery store.
He also served as the local fire chief. He moved with his family to the
Sharp County area in 1966 from Wardell. He worked many years as a
self-employed contractor and also was a car dealer. He attended
services at the Christian Tabernacle near Hardy, where he served as a
trustee and then as a deacon for many years. He was loved and respected
by everyone who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Sims of the home; one son and wife,
Roy D. and Caroline Sims of West Plains, Mo.; four daughters and their
husbands, Gletta and Ron Clark of Thayer, Mo., Hope and Danny Seibert
of Mammoth Spring, Ark., Pamela and Darrel Wade of Thayer, Mo., and
Angela and Brent Godwin of Mammoth Spring; four brothers, Harold Sims
and James Sims both of Ash Flat, and Charles Sims and George Sims both
of Mammoth Spring; one sister, Myrtle Defoe of Ash Flat, Ark.; 18
grandchildren and their spouses, Anthony and Joanna Clark, Stephen and
Melissa Clark, Natalie and Michael Appelt, Michal and Randy McComas,
Michael and LaNae Seibert, Melissa Champion, Mitchell Seibert, Jeremy
and Jody Wade, Richard and Kristi Wade, Kim and Johnny Alexander, Ben
and Robyn Sims, Anita and David James, Pam and Cody Garner, Tommy and
Cindy Sims, Jessica and Richard Rudd, Damon and Jacque Bowling, Tiffany
and Michael Presley, and Corey Godwin; 23 great-grandchildren; and many
other relatives and friends.
Services were Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. at the Christian
Tabernacle on Hwy. 175 near Hardy with Rev. Herb Seibert officiating.
Burial was in the Eagle's Rest Cemetery at the church. Arrangements
were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland,
Ark.
Pallbearers were Anthony and Stephen Clark, Michael and Mitchell
Seibert, Jeremy and Richard Wade, Ben and Tommy Sims, and Corey Godwin.

CASSVILLE, MO–ORRE M. SMITH,
90, of Cassville, Mo., formerly of Monett, died Dec. 9, 2001, at Barry
County Care Center in Cassville. Born Feb. 24, 1911, in Bexar, Ark.,
she was the daughter of William Obed Jennings and Annabelle Sears
Jennings. She married Ted Smith Dec. 25, 1930, in Fulton County.
She was a homemaker and attended the Methodist church.
Survivors include her daughters -- Anna McIntire of Cassville, Betty
Zane Smith of Raytown, Mo., Billie Wayne Welch of Salem, Ark., and
Jovita Gay Francis of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Jessamine Jennings of
Purdy, Mo.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two
great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on April 13,
1985; two grandchildren -- Michael Smith and Diane Smith; and a
brother, Olen Jennings.
The funeral was Dec. 12 at Cox Blevins Chapel with Jim Schrivner officiating. Burial followed in Wild Cherry Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–LORAL CLEMAN STEPHENS, 82, of Oklahoma City, Okla, died Dec. 31, 2001 at the Norman Veterans Center.
He was born Jan. 21, 1919 in Elizabeth, Ark. the son of the late George
J. Stephens and Esta (Cantrell) Stephens. He married Edna C. Fielden,
his wife of 56 years, April 16, 1945.
He served in the South Pacific during World War II with the U. S. Army.
During his period of service, he once spent Christmas Day on Christmas
Island, South of Indonesia, in the Indian Ocean. He lived in Oklahoma
City for 45 years.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Richard (Linda) Stephens of
Oklahoma City, Barbara (Dick) Green of Manhattan, Kan., and Janis
(Richard) Truckowski of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; six grandchildren and
two great-grandchildern; two brothers, Ewell of Othello, Wash., and Ray
of Franklin; three sisters, Lois Daughtery of Phoenix, Ariz., Opal
Barnes of Quartz Hill, Calif., and Qualline Behrens of Lubbock, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Curtis, Bryce, and George L., and one sister, Marie.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Sat., Jan. 5, 2002 at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, Okla.

LUCILLE ROSS SUBLETT was born in Fulton County,
AR, on October 19, 1914, and departed this life March 27, 2000, in
Lawrence, KS. She was the daughter of Taylor Brashears and Jennie Ann
Martin Ross, who owned a farm near Byron, AK. Her father was granted a
license to preach by the Methodist Church and was the pastor of the
Byron Presbyterian Church. She studied piano as a child, and began
accompanying at the church when she was about 13 years old. Her family
greatly prized education, and she and her brother, Clyde Taylor Ross,
graduated second and first in their high school class. She met her
future husband, Steve Lewis Sublett, at a camp revival meeting when she
was 14. They were married October 2, 1934, in Kansas City, MO, where
their son, Steve Ross, was born. During the Second World War, she
worked at the Craddock clothing factory in KC,MO, making uniforms for
members of the armed forces. After the war, they moved to Kansas City,
KS, where their daughter, Virginia Ann, was born. They were members
first of Queen's Garden Methodist Church and later Trinity Methodist
Church, where she was an active member of the Women's Society of
Christian Service and the Naomi Circle. She worked for two years at the
Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio before retiring. After retirement, Mr. and
Mrs. Sublett moved back to Arkansas, where they owned the farm on which
he had grown up, near Mitchell. They raised cattle and faithfully
attended the Byron Presbyterian Church. She joined the Home Extension
Club and frequently entered exotic pickled vegetables in the Fulton
County Fair. From 1996 until Mr. Sublett's death in 1997, the two lived
at the Tauy Creek Apartments in Baldwin City, KS, afterwards, Mrs.
Sublett lived at the Presbyterian Manor in Lawrence, KS. She was
preceded in death by her two sisters, two brothers, her husband, and
three children. She is survived by her brother, Clyde Taylor Ross, of
Monticello, AR; her sister, Juanita Cristy Burdock, of Mountain Home,
AR; her son, Steve Sublett and daughter-in-law, Pat Sublett, of
Lawrence, KS; her daughter, Virginia Sublett of San Diego, CA; her
granddaughter, Susan Newton and her husband, Bill, and their two
children, Kathy and Sam, of Claremont, CA; and her grandson, Steve C.
Sublett, his wife, Cheryl, and their two sons, Steven and Connor, of
