COUNTY MAN DIES IN ARKANSAS ACCIDENT--J.L. Person, a well known farmer, living near here, received a
telegram from Pine
Bluff, Ark. last night, saying that his son, CHARLES E. PERSON, had
been killed in a wreck near Pine Bluff... The
dead man is a well known railroader. JOE WELLS, age 43, of Road District
#5, Union County, Illinois, died 28 June 1931. He was born in Pine Bluff, Ark in
1888 and was presently living in Alexander County, Illinois. He was a cotton
cutter. Burial was in Road District #5, Union County, Illinois. WILKINS, Henry Sr.--Arkansas Man Dies at 121--PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) —Henry Wilkins Sr. of Pine Bluff died at his home Monday, Andy Oner, owner and director of Henson's Mortuary, said. Wilkins was 121. He was the grandfather of state Rep. Henry Wilkins III of Pine Bluff. A retired farmer, Wilkins was born in Concordia Parish, La. He came to Arkansas before the turn of the century. He is survived by his wife, Ruthie Bell; a son, Henry Wilkins Jr.; a sister, Eliza Sykes of Indianapolis, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. --Dallas Morning News, 1974-08-20, p.4; contributed by Janice Rice. WHEREAS, Mr. Wilkins served the citizenry
of Arkansas with distinction
and dedication for 19 years as a member of
the Arkansas Legislative Assembly; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Wilkins fostered the cause
of higher education, the University of Arkansas System, and the University of
Arkansas at Pine Bluff as an active state leader; and
WHEREAS, his tenure as Associate Professor in the Department
of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Arkansas at
Pine Bluff is marked by distinguished, spirited, and loyal achievements in support of UAPB’s
goals;

OF TRUSTEES OF THE

THAT the Board expresses its appreciation for his services and contributions, and sends its condolences to his wife, Josetta E. Wilkins of Pine Bluff, two sons, Henry Wilkins, IV, and Mark Wilkins, both of Dallas; two daughters, Cassandra F. Wilkins and Angela J. Wilkins, both of Pine Bluff; one step-son, Calvin Tyrone Terry of San Antonio; six brothers, John C. Wilkins, Billy E. Wilkins, and James E. Wilkins all of Denver; and Frank Wilkins, Robert Wilkins, and Donald Wilkins, all of Pine Bluff; four sisters, Shirley Goodwin of Gary, Indiana, Minnie Turner of Philadelphia, Fay Davis of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, and Carol Wilson of Miami Lakes, Florida; and eleven grandchildren.
