WM. P. HACKETT, Esq., Judge of the County Court of Jefferson County, Arkansas, was murdered on the sand-bar opposite Pine Bluffs, in that county, on Tuesday night last, Jan. 3, by a worthless fellow named JAMES ROBINSON, who was immediately apprehended and committed for trial.  --Jacksonville Republican (Jacksonville, AL)– April 20, 1837; transcribed by Veneta McKinney.

March 4, 1909, The Daily Soliphone, Paragould, AR--COLONIAL BRICK STRUCTURE--Pine Bluff, March 4--The $57,000 club house which the Business Men's Club of this city has had it's eyes on for some time, today, taken possession of by the club members.  It isn't every business men's club that can afford such an expensive meeting place, but the Pine Bluff men have for their motto, "We want what we want when we want it."  The club hasn't elected members yet but will today.
The hundred old members are from the most select social circles, all being men of wealth.  The club house is the former residence of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Langford.  It is a magnificent brick structure of colonial type.  (Contributed by Tina Easley.)
