W. B. CARPENTER, who lives near Bucker, was shot from ambush recently. He shot and killed Grant Davis a few days ago, and was on his way home from Lewsville where he had made bond, when he was shot.  Journal-Advance, May 31, 1907; transcribed by Tina Easley.

CORBIN, KY – VERLIE FAY HODGE, 62, of Stamps, Ark., formerly of Lily, (KY) died Sunday in Stamps. Services 11 a.m. Thursday at Lily Holiness Church. Visitation after 5 p.m. today at Hart Funeral Home here.

FORT SMITH, ARK--FRANK LANDES, 59, died 09 May 1957 in Fort Smith.  He was born in 1898 and was a widower.  Burial was in Stamps, Ark.  --Arkansas Deaths and Burials, 1882-1963.

STAMPS, ARK--JULIA A. POST died 30 Sep 1912 in Stamps at the age of 62.  She was born in 1850 in Tenn.  She was a housewife.  Her father was a Kendall.  --Arkansas Deaths and Burials, 1882-1963.

General Sterling Price is reported by the Richmond papers as having died of apoplexy on the 1st inst. at Dooley's Ferry, Lafayette County, Ark.  --Quincy Daily Whig, Monday, Evening, Jan. 9, 1865, contributed by Candi Horton.
