Pulaski County Arkansas Genealogy Trails LITTLE
ROCK, ARK--CHARLES C. CAMP, 71, of Little Rock passed away Monday
morning at the home of his sister, Teresa Rosse of Jonesboro, after a
brief illness. He was born April 6, 1937 in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to
Richard V. and Verene Bailey Camp. After graduating from Poplar
Bluff High School, he received a bachelor's degree from Arkansas State
College in Jonesboro. He received his master's degree from the
University of Oklahoma. He was also an army veteran.
He was retired after 35 years of service as a government employee of the State of Arkansas, working in Medicaid fraud. He was a teacher of history and mathematics at McCollum High School and was also a counselor at the Arkansas Rehab Hospital. He enjoyed gardening, watching old movies, reading and traveling. He will be greatly missed by three sisters, Mrs. Teresa Rosse, and husband Sam of Jonesboro, Mrs. Mary Whitener of Arnold, Mo., and Mrs. Margaret Crook and husband Charles of High Ridge, Mo.; two brothers, Mr. Tom Camp, and wife Linda of Jonesboro, and Dr. Richard V. Camp Jr. of St. Louis; an adopted sister, Sherry Guenther of Roland; 12 nieces and nephews; and 29 great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Pastor Don Blackmore officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his nephews: Ken Curtwright, Donny Rosse, Sammy Rosse, Charles Rosse, Keith Lomax and Michael Whitener. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Whitener, Kenneth Farrish, Brian Montgomery, Nelson Chenault and Roy Fredrick. Visitation will be from 1:30 until time of service at the funeral home. Collier, George Wesley, 86, of North Little Rock died Feb. 21, 2009. He was the owner of Pike Auto Parts, a member of the Masons and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Fred, Payton, Dewey, John and Clarence; and four sisters, Allie, Betty Jean, Lillie and Peggy. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Faye Collier of North Little Rock; two sons, Gary Collier of Maumelle and Larry Collier of North Little Rock; two grandchildren, Daniel and Whitney Collier; and many nieces, and nephews. A graveside service was held Feb. 27 at Butlerville Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to a favorite charity. pulaskinews. |
