AIMEE
L. DAVIS
Aimee L. Davis, 91, of Decatur, Ill.,
formerly of Hardy, Ark., died Sunday, May 9, 1999, in
Fair Havens Christina Home in Decatur. She was born
August 21, 1907 in Cowden, Ill., daughter of Otto and
Nelle Jennings Hooper. She was a member of the
Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints, in Decatur,
Ill., and was retired from Perfect Potato Chip Co.
She married Elza Davis in Williford, Ark., in 1932. He
preceded her in death in June of 1974.
Survivors are two sons, Don Davis and his wife Patricia
of Decatur, and Frank Davis and his wife DeAnne of
Mountainburg, Ark.; one daughter, Janelle Jackson of
Monticello, Ill; five grandchildren; and nine
great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and many
friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,
five brothers, and one sister.
Graveside services were Thursday, May 13, 1999, at 3 pm
at the Walker Cemetery in Hardy, Ark. with Elder Gerald
Fitch officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Higginbotham
Funeral Service of Hardy, Ark.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American

BETTY LOUISE DAVIS
Betty Louise Davis, 77, of Hardy, Ark.,
died Thursday, April 8, 1999, at her residence. She
was born August 16,1921, in Decatur, Ill., daughter of
Dale Kenneth and Jennie Lucile Browning. She was a
homemaker and a member of the Re-Organized Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was married
to Floyd Arbol (Arvil) Davis on November 1, 1941 in
Decatur, Ill. He preceded her in death.
She was a life member of the Optimist Club, the Sharp
County Fair Board, and the Red Cross.
Survivors include one daughter, Dana Lee Davis Hunt of
Hot Springs, Ark.; one granddaughter, Kelly and her
husband, Martin K. Lyon of Little Rock, Ark.; one sister
Jean Crowell of Decatur., Ill
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by
her parents, a son-in-law; one grandson; and one
step-brother.
The body was cremated. A memorial service was held
Sunday afternoon, April 11, 1999 at 2 PM at the
Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made
to Eastern Ozarks Hospice or American Cancer Society.

DAN M. DAVIS
Dan M. Davis of Chester, Illinois
departed this life on September 21, 1970 at Chester,
Illinois. He was born at Hardy, Arkansas, August
26, 1915 and died at the age of 55 years and 25
days. He is survived by his wife and 12
children. They are: Charles William Davis, Mrs.
Evelyn Marie Knudsen, Mrs. Joann Campbell, Mrs. Doris
Jean Whittaker and Mrs. Barbara Sue Pickley, Daniel M.
Davis, Mrs. Billie Mae Whittaker, and Paul Wayne Davis
all of St. Louis, MO, Mrs. Melba Davis, Clifford James
Davis and Stormy Davis all of Alton, Illinois.
Also surviving are two brothers; A. N. Davis of Salem Mo.
and Esther Davis of Bay, Arkansas; two sisters; Mrs. C.
C. Highley of Holden, Miss, and Mrs. Dan Rogers of Hardy,
Arkansas and 25 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Higginbotham Funeral
Chapel on September 24, 1970 at 2 pm. Officiating was
Paul Ernhart, Lepanto, Arkansas. Music was by
the Hardy Harmonettes with Mrs. James Campfield at the
organ.
Burial was in the Walker Cemetery. --Contributed by

DAVID A. DAVIS
Independence,
MO--DAVID A. DAVIS, 83, Independence, MO, passed away Wednesday,
January 20, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel; burial
in Blue Springs Cemetery. Friends may call 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the
chapel.
Mr. Davis was born in Sharp County, AR, and had lived in the
Independence area since 1945. He had been employed at Allis Chalmers
for 24 years and had been a member of the United Steelworkers of
America Local 1958. He was an Elder in the R.L.D.S. Church. Mr. Davis
is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Odelia Davis, of the home;
daughter and son-in-law, Barb and Terry Hill, two grandsons, Rodney
Hill and Scott Hill and his wife, Mary, great-grandson, Brett David
Hill, all of Blue Springs, MO; brother Zedric Davis, Grain Valley, MO;

ELZA DAVIS
Elza Davis of Oreana, Ill. died June 4,
in Oreana at the age of 62 years. He was born July
20, 1911 in Sharp County, Arkansas, son of the late E. R.
and Mary Jane Rogers Davis. He was united in
marriage in 1935 to Amy Hooper at Williford, Ark.
Mr. Davis was a member of the Re-Organized Church of
Jesus Christ, or Latter Day Saints.
He is survived by: his wife, Amy of the home; two sons,
Don Davis of Decatur, Ill and Frank Davis, also of
Decatur, one daughter Mrs. Jannelle Jackson of Bement,
Illinois; one brother, Floyd A. Davis of Hardy, Arkansas;
three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Crabtree of Rockford, Illinois,
Mrs. Ida Zeiger of Hardy, Arkansas, and Mrs. Ema Nell
Winer of Chicago, Illinois; 6 grandchildren, 1
great-grandchild, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 9, 1974 at 2 PM
in the Higginbotham's Chapel in Hardy. Burial was

ETHER LEROY DAVIS
Bay--Ether Leroy Davis, aged 68, of Bay,
Arkansas, a retired carpenter, died Sunday, May 7,
(1972). He was born at Hardy, Arkansas.
Mr. Davis was a member of the Re-Organized Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include; his wife, Mary Powell Davis; a son,
Ether Leroy Davis, Jr; four daughters; Mrs. Juanita
Osborn of Benton Harbor, Michigan; Mrs. Leavena Burton of
Laverne, Calif., Miss Ruby Davis of Pomona, California
and Mrs. Lois Jean Brooks of Jonesboro; a brother, Almus
Davis of Salem, Missouri; two sisters; Mrs. Antha Rogers
of Hardy and Mrs. Stella Highley of Holden, Missouri;
nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral was at 1 PM Tuesday, May 9 at the First Baptist
Church at Bay. Burial was at Walker Cemetery,
Hardy, under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral
Service of Walnut Ridge.
Pall Bearers were: Newt Tice, Herman Hill, Alvin Hill,
Bud Siggers, Tom Cottingham and Charles Burton. (Ether

F. E. DAVIS
Fay Ellis (F. E.) Davis, 81, of Hardy,
Ark., died Saturday, November 18, 2000 at White River
Medical Center in Batesville, Ark. He was born
August 23, 1919 in Forrest City, Ark., the son of Turley
and Viola George Davis. He was married to Jo
Shepherd on March 29, 1939 in Forrest City. He was
a well-known building contractor, land owner and cattle
rancher. He was a past Worshipful Master, Masonic
Lodge #432.
Survivors include his wife, Jo (Shepherd) Davis; three
sons, Mike Davis of Hardy, Larry Joe Davis of St.
Petersburg, Fla., and March Davis of Hardy; one daughter,
Carolyn Davis of Clarksdale, Miss; two sisters, Lola Mae
Baty and Vera Louise Dearing, both of Forrest City;
15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and many other
relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one
daughter, Brenda Petty. Services were Tuesday,
November 21, 2000 at 2 PM at the Higginbotham Funeral
Service Chapel in Hardy, Ark., with Rev. Marty Polston
officiating. Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery at
Highland, Ark., with arrangements under the direction of
Higginbotham Funeral Service, Inc., of Hardy , Ark.

FIRST SERGEANT FLOYD
ARVOL DAVIS

1st Sergeant Floyd Arvol Davis, aged 65,
died Wednesday, December 3, 1986 at his home near
Hardy. He was born February 29, 1921 in Hardy, the
son of the late Emeriar and Mary Jane (Rogers)
Davis. He was a retired disabled Army Veteran who
served in World War II and the
Korean War and Vietnam Conflicts. Floyd was a
lifetime member of the Re-Organized Church of Jesus
Christ of the Latter Day Saints, a member of the Optimist
Club, Sharp County Ministerial Alliance and the Sharp
County Fair Association.
He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Davis of the home;
one daughter, Dana L. Hunt of Little Rock; one
grandaughter, Kelly E. Hunt of Arkansas College,
Batesville; two sisters, Mrs. Burl (Nancy)
Crabtree of Rockford, Illinois and Mrs. Samuel B. (Emma
Nell) Winer of Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded
in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held at 10 AM Saturday, December 6,
at the Higginbotham Chapel in Hardy with Dr. Boyce
Rogers officiating.
Burial was in Walker Cemetery under the direction of
Higginbotham Funeral Service. Pallbearers were
Roger Stark, Terry Stark, Mike Zeiger, Greg Crowell,

GEORGE
THOMAS DAVIS
George Thomas Davis of Sugar Creek, MO,
formerly of Mammoth Spring, AR, son of the late Joseph
Howard Davis and Liddie Catherine Blaylock Davis, was
born Aug. 21, 1902 at Columbia, TN, and departed this
life April 25, 1986 at the Truman Medical West Hospital
in Kansas City, MO at the age of 83 years. He was united
in marriage Oct. 27, 1921 at Many Islands, AR to Icy
Alice Davis, who preceded him in death. He is survived by
one son, Harry Davis of Sugar Creek; two daughters, Lola
McMullen of Pueblo, CO; and Alberta England of Mammonth
Spring; 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He
was a member of the Mammoth Spring Church of Christ.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 28, 1986 at the
Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Bro. Clovis
Ragsdale officiating. Interment was in Walker Cemetery at
Hardy, under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of

KELSEY DAVIS

Kelsey Davis, 58, of
Ozark Acres, Ark., died Thursday, December 9, 1999.
He was born November 22, 1941 in Williford, Ark., son of
James Millard and Jancy Elizabeth Brown Davis. He
was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, a heavy equipment
operator for Cooper communities, and a member of the
Spring River Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons,
Christopher Kelsie Davis of Branson Mo., and Stephen
O'Dell Davis of Hardy, Ark.; one daughter Kelly Thornton
of Hardy; his mother Jancy Davis of Ash Flat Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center; two brothers, E. A. Davis and
Ketchel Davis, both of Williford; two sisters, Freda
Collins of Mammoth Spring, Ark., and Connie Yeager of
Cadiz, KY; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
father, James Millard Davis.
Services were Sunday, December 12,
1999 at 2 PM at the Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in
Hardy, with Rev. Floyd Rikard officiating, Burial was in
the Bradford Cemetery, with arrangements under the
direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service, Inc of Hardy,
Ark.
Pallbearers were Johnny Collins,
Daniel Collins, James Biby, Shawn Biby, James Davis,
Freeman Davis, Darrell Collins, and Mark Yeager.

MARY ELIZABETH DAVIS
Mary Elizabeth Davis, a resident of Bay,
died June 6, 1990 at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 17
days at the Baxter County Regional Medical Center in Mtn.
Home.
She was born March 19, 1906 in Hardy, the daughter of the
late Eugene and Sarah Ann King Powell.
She was married to E.L. Davis Sr. on Dec. 27, 1924.
He preceded her in death May 7, 1972.
She was a housewife, a member of the Bay Garden Club and
a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bay
Survivors include a son., E.L. Davis Jr of St. Joseph MI,
four daughters, Juanita Osborn of Benton Harbor, MI.,
Ruby Davis of Pamona, Ca, Lavena Burton of Laverne CA.,
and Lois Jean Brooks of Mtn Home; three brothers, Elmus
Powell and Cleo Powell, both of Payson, AZ, and Milton
Powell of Indianapolis, IN; a sister, Lucy Baird of
Thorntown, Mo; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held June 9, 1990 at 1 PM at the
First United Methodist Church in Bay with Martin Passmore
and Carolyn Passmore officiating.
Burial was in the Walker Cemetery at Hardy under
the direction of the Higginbotham Funeral Service of

ALBERT DAVIS
Robert Albert Davis, native of Williford,
Ark., died April 13, 1972, in Salem, Ark., at the age of
84 years and 27 days. He was born March 16, 1888,
in Williford, son of the late Elzie and Molly Davis, Mr.
Davis was a retired farmer and day laborer and was a
member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by three sons, Sid Davis of Ash Flat,
Chester Davis of Flint, Michigan; and Leroy Davis of
Lexington, Tenn.; three daughters, Vallie Thompson of
Hardy, Ark, Irene West of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Stella
Mae Fulbright of St. Joseph, Michigan; one step-son,
Elmer Snell of Benton Harbor, Michigan; one sister, Allie
Young of Sitka, Arkansas; four half brothers, Elmer Davis
of Smithville, Ark; Homer Davis of Jonesboro; Allen Davis
of Michigan; and Jesse Davis of Arkansas; twenty-six
grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren; one
great-great grandchild; other relatives and friends
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 15, at 2 PM at
the Williford Church of Christ with Bro. Charles Wilson
officiating.
Burial was in the Williford Cemetery with Higginbotham

WANDA JUNE DAVIS
Wanda June Davis was born Feb. 19, 1929
in Sharp County, Ark., and passed away Nov.13, 1972 at
her home in Thayer, MO. Her early life was spent in
Sharp County, but for the last 25 years her home and
employment has been in Thayer.
On May 2, 1957, she was married to Dan Clark Cash of
Thayer. She was a member of the Baptist Church of
Mammoth Spring, Ark.
Survivors include one son, Dennis of Sedalia; one
brother, Charles McCutchen of Thayer; one aunt, Mrs.
Betty Morgan of Kansas City, Kansas and one
granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Nov. 15 1972 in the Leo Carr
Chapel in Thayer, Mo Interment was in Baker
Cemetery in Sharp County Ark., under the direction of the

OZARK ACRES -- Carl D. DIENST, 82, of Ozark Acres died Saturday, Nov. 16, (2002) at Eastern Ozarks Regional Health System.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Marie DIENST of Williford.
Arrangements will be announced by Heath Funeral Home Oak Hill Chapel in Hardy.
WILLIFORD -- Funeral services for Carl D. DIENST, 82, of Williford, who
died Saturday, Nov. 16, at Eastern Ozarks Regional Health System, will
be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Heath Funeral Home Oak Hill
Chapel in Hardy. Burial will follow in Baker Cemetery at Ozark Acres.
Born in Victor Township, Ill., he was a retired electrician and a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Marie DIENST of Williford; two
sons, Kevin DIENST and Kim DIENST; two daughters, Cheryl Hearn and Dawn
Swenson; two brothers, Dale DIENST and Wilbur DIENST; a sister, Jeanene
Coziahr; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

WILLIFORD, AR — CHARLOTTE DIENST, 84, of Williford died Friday (April 16, 2010) at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, AR.
Charlotte was a homemaker and a cake designer. She was the daughter of the late Lester Hage and the late Leah (Baie) Hage.
She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Dawn and Jim
Swenson of Salem, Ill., and Cheryl and Ward Hearn of Somonauk, Ill.;
sons and their spouses, Kevin and Ann Dienst and Kim Dienst of Hardy;
brother, Gene Hage of Sandwich, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 20
great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her friend and
companion, Harold DuBien.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Dienst, and her parents.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Kal Dienst, Gary Dienst,
Kenny Dienst, Phillip Swenson, Kris Swenson, Keith Hearn, Aaron Hearn
and Bryce Hearn.
Arrangements are being handled by Heath Funeral Home of Highland, where
the family will receive friends from 12:30-2 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral
service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Heath Oak Hill Chapel. Brother
Floyd Rikard is officiating, and a special friend, Bonnie Sweet, will
sing.
Interment will be at Baker Cemetery in Ozark Acres.
