HARDY, AR -- SIDNEY BOYD LANKFORD, 79, of Hardy died Wednesday, Dec. 31, (2003) at his residence.
    Born at Tishimingo, Okla., he retired from the Army after more than 28 years of service, including service as paratrooper and a mechanic in the 101st Airborne Division in World War II in Japan and in the Korean War.
    He was a member of Hardy United Methodist Church, having served as a trustee and chairman of the finance committee. He was a 32nd degree Mason and past master of both Sunland Masonic Lodge No. 1344 in El Paso, Texas, and Wilson Lodge No. 432 in Hardy.
    He was a past president of the Spring River Optimist Club, a volunteer fireman and a member of the American Red Cross disaster response services team.
    Survivors include his wife, Jewell "Judy" Lankford of the home; one daughter, Barbara Giudice of Hudson, Fla.; four grandchildren, Kim Stephens of Virginia, Kenny Giudice of West Virginia and Kevin Giudice and Keith Giudice, both of Florida; and seven great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
    A memorial service is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. today at Hardy First United Methodist Church, with Floyd Rikard and Johnny Carter officiating.
    Burial with full military honors will follow at 3 p.m. in the columbarium at Little Rock National Cemetery. Heath Oak Hill Chapel Funeral Home of Hardy is in charge of arrangements.
    No visitation has been scheduled.

CALIFORNIA, MO--JOHN C. LOWE, 71, California, died Dec. 27, 1999, at his home.
He was born Dec. 11, 1928, in Sharp County, Ark., a son of Thomas and Marcella G. Thompkins Lowe. He was married June 4, 1953, in Sharp County, Ark., to Bessie M. Fuller, who survives at the home.
He was a head sawer for Gastineau Lumber Company for 20 years. He was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church, McGirk.
Other survivors include: two sons, Johnnie R. Lowe, Tommie L. Lowe, California; three daughters, Brenda M. Evans, Hermann, and Betty S. Salmons and Mary Louise Lowe, both of California; one brother, Alfred Lowe, state of Arkansas; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Bart Larson will officiate. Burial will be in McGirk Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.   --Jefferson City News-Tribune (MO) - December 28, 1999.



HARDY, ARK–JOYCE EVELYN TAYLOR LOWE, 60, a resident of Hardy, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002 at the White County Medical Center in Searcy. She was born Aug. 8, 1941 in England, Ark., the daughter of the late William McKinley and Dora Bostain Taylor.
She was a graduate of Arkansas Public Schools and was a Baptist. Before her retirement she was employed by Land O Frost in Searcy.
Survivors include four sons, Rick Dangerfield of Searcy, Cary Lowe of Fairfax, Va., Kenny Lowe and Paul Lowe both of Palm Bay, Fla.; three daughters, Brenda Mize of Hardy, Cecil Taylor of Jacksonville, and Marion Taylor of Garden Grove, Calif.; J. W. Taylor of West Minster, Calif., and Waylon Taylor
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lowe; her parents; and one son, Chuck Lowe.
