Ash Flat, Ark.–HAZEL IRENE WELCH,
88, of Ash Flat, Ark. died Nov. 13, 2001 at Baxter County Regional
Hospital in Mountain Home, Ark. She was born Oct. 23, 1913 in Ash Flat
to William Oscar and Vira Garner Evans. She was married to Scott Godwin
Welch on Aug. 31, 1935 and was married over 50 years. They made Ash
Flat their home She was a homemaker and a member of the Ash Flat Church
of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Wayburn Welch of Ash Flat and Dale and
wife, Pat Welch of Sparta, Mo.; one daughter, Betty and husband, Danny
Garwood of Melbourne, Ark.; six grandchildren, Veronda Welch, Cary and
Kim Welch, Scott and Jo Garwood, Evan and Vicki Welch, and Brad and
Robyn Welch; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, W. O. and Betty
Evans of Fort Smith, Ark., and Lehman and Geraldine Evans of Ash Flat;
several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother and two sisters.
Services were Friday, Nov. 16, 2001 at 10 a.m. at the Ash Flat Church
of Christ with Jack Richardson officiating. Burial was in the Baker
Cemetery in Izard County with arrangements under the direction of
Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland, Ark.
Pallbearers were Cary Welch, Brad Welch, Scott Garwood, Tim Garwood, Evan Welch and Fred Goodwin.

SHERWOOD, ARK--FAYE WESTMORELAND,
87, of Sherwood, Ark., formerly of Sidney, Ark., died Thursday, Nov.
15, 2001 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Sherwood. She was born Aug.
23, 1914 at Melbourne to Cicero B. and Maggie (Conyers) Finley.
She owned and operated Westmoreland General Store at Sidney for many
years, was a retired clerk for the State Revenue Department at Little
Rock, and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock.
Survivors include one son, John Westmoreland, of Sherwood; one
daughter, Barbara Fowler of Independence, Mo.; one sister, Theo Bibb of
Springdale; four grandchildren; eight great-grandhcildren; several
nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, W. J.
Westmoreland; three brothers, John Finley, Malcolm Finley, and Junior
Finley; and one sister, Maxine Raymond.
Services were Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Sidney Baptist Church
with Bro. Noble Wiles and Bro. Alvin Wiles officating. Burial was in
the Mt. Carmel Cemetery at Sidney with arrangements under the direction
of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Mark Westmoreland, Donnie Fowler, John Westmoreland,
Blake Westmoreland, Ron Fowler, and Christopher Westmoreland.

EMMA NELL WINER, 69, of Chicago, Ill,
formerly of Hardy, Ark. died July 17, 1995 in Chicago,
Ill.
Survivors include her husband Samuel B. Winer of the
home, two step-children, Sondra Kray and Morton S. Winer;
two sisters, Ethel Crabtree and Ida Zeiger; one brother,
Elze Davis; six
step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren; a
niece, Kelly Hunt; and several other nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by two brother, Charles Davis
and Floyd Davis.
Memorial services were held Friday, July 21, 1995 at 11
am at the Higginbotham Funeral Chapel in Hardy, Ark with
burial in the Walker Cemetery.

Hoxie, AR--July 19--W. R. WINFREY, aged 74, of Alicia (Lawrence
County), a retired farmer, died Tuesday at a hospital here. He was a
native of Williford (Sharp County) and moved to Calvin Crossing near
Alicia in 1953. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sallie Ross Winfrey;
five sons, Floyd Winfrey, O. D. Winfrey and Theodore Winfrey, all of
Hoxie, and Lehman Winfrey and T. W. Winfrey, both of Des Moines, IA;
three daughters, Mrs. Beulah Palmer and Mrs. Gladys Colvey, both of
Portersville, Ind., and Mrs. Wanda Lee Madden of Alicia; three
brothers, George Winfrey of Imboden (Lawrence County), Walter Winfrey
of Swifton and Tom Winfrey of Trumann, and a sister, Mrs. Hattie Oliver
of Black Oak (Craighead County). Arrangements are by Bryan Funeral

CAVE CITY, ARK–MADGE LOIS WOODYARD,
93, of Cave City, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001 at Woodlawn Nursing Home
in Batesville, Ark. She was born Feb. 14, 1908 in Cave City to William
Edgar and Nancy Ellen Phillips Woodyard. She attended St. Elizabeth
Medical Center in Granite City, Ill. where she received her registered
nursing degree in 1938. In 1941 she attended a Boston hospital and
received a diploma and pin for post graduate work in obstetrics. She
worked at Gray's Hospital and Craigs Hospital in Batesville and retired
from North Arkansas Medical Clinic in Batesville. She was very devoted
to her profession and was a member of First United Methodist Church in
Cave City.
Survivors include one nephew, William Eugene and wife, Nadine Woodyard
of Batesville; a great niece Deanna Gail Woodyard Harris of Batesville;
and a great-nephew, John William Woodyard of Dallas, Texas, and a host
of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers,. Neal
Cyrus Woodyard, Eugene Gray Woodyard and Phillip Earl Woodyard.
Graveside services were Monday, Nov. 26, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Cave
City Cemetery with Rev. Paul Strang officiating. Arrangements were
under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City, Ark.
