Killed by Rattlesnake
 The Ukiah Dispatch and Democrat says: A man who gave his name as Thomas Edwards, when in Ukiah last Saturday, stated that on the 8th inst., while at Woodpeck, Del Norte county, his associate, W.H. Baldwin, was bitten by a rattlesnake and died within two hours' time. Baldwin, he said, was at one time a railroad hand, and had a wife and child living in Oakland or San Francisco. (Submitted by S.  San Francisco, Dec. 23-Four men were drowned when a small boat from the steamer South Coast was swamped by the heavy seas in the open harbor at Crescent City, Del Norte county, Cal., early last night according to word received here today by the ships owners, Hobbs, Wall & company.
