San Francisco, Dec. 26-To-night at Kingston, Fresno county, a party of twelve Mexicans and several white men all armed entered the place and seized twenty citizens, bound hand and foot, and then robbed the two stores in town getting about $10,000 and a large quantity of jewelry. The robbers made their escape, but the people are in hot pursuit.

John G. Timbrook, of Fresno California, arrived here last week to pay his mother a month's visit. Mr. Timbrook left this city thirty six years ago, overland, for the great gold fields of California, and this is his first return since.

A gigantic wine-cask has just been erected at the St. George vineyard, in Fresno, Cal. It vastly exceeds in size the Great Tun of Heidelberg. The latter holds 42,000 gallons; the Fresno cask holds 79,000 gallons.

Fire at Fresno
Fresno, Cal., Aug. 15-The conflagration that devastated a large area in the packing house district in Fresno at midnight was not gotten under control until break of day this morning. The aggregate loss is now variously estimated from a conservative standpoint at --- $3000,000 to $450,000. The buildings, together with the entire contents destroyed were: The Forsyth Seeded Raisin Packing company's and the establishment of the Phoenix Packing house. The union Ice works, party destroyed; The National Ice company's establishment, the Farmers' warehouse, the Einstein warehouse, Hobbs & Parsons, partly destroyed; residence of John Doyle.
