Murder in Mariposa-Edward Bowers, was shot and killed at Hornitos, on the 9th inst., by his neighbor, D.K. Pitzer. Having had trouble about a line fence between their lands, Pitzer drew a gun on Bowers sometime in June. The latter knocked the gun aside and gave his assailant a severe drubbing. On the 9th the men again met on the road, when Pitzer fired a revolver at Bowers, killing him instantly. The murderer was arrested and lodged in jail amid intense excitement. Lynching was freely talked of by friends of Bowers. Both parties were farmers and old residents.
