FENTON, COY

MARIPOSA, CA–COY CHARLES FENTON went to be with the Lord on April 23 1999 at the age of 80 in Mariposa Calif.

Coy was born Dec. 11, 1918 in Stigler Okla. to John and Flora Fenton. He came to Shafter with his family at the age of 17.

He began working at the U.S. Experiment Farm in 1942 and worked there until he lost his leg in a hunting accident. He then attended various trade schools and became an airplane and auto electrical technician. Coy's career with the U.S. government continued with employment at Minter Field Naval Base, Mojave Naval Base, and Point Mugu Naval Base where he retired in 1979 after 38 years with the government. Coy and Ethae Mae had been residents of Moorpark for 35 years prior to their move to Mariposa after their retirement. They enjoyed their home in the mountains and traveling the past 10 years.

Coy was a very generous and caring person who was an inspiration to all who knew him. He never considered himself handicapped even through he only had one leg.

He will be greatly missed by her family and all those that knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Ethae Mae; sons Leon, Alfred and Clifford; daughters Annetta and Nancy; brother Doy; sisters Ida Mae, Lauretta, Goldie, Mary and Barbara; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Coy was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday April 30 at the Church of Christ in Shafter. Interment will be at Shafter Memorial Park.

HULL, BETTY

MARIPOSA, CA - Services for BETTY HULL, 70, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Mariposa Funeral Home. Mrs. Hull died Wednesday.

She was a retired registered nurse.

Surviving are a son, Ronald of Mariposa; two daughters, Oralee Phillips of Fresno and Noel Fraguglia of Merced; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

MARTIN, HAROLD

AUGUSTA, GA–MR. HAROLD V. "SKIP" MARTIN, 62, of 5591 Chowchilla Court, died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fresno.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Joseph's Cemetery with the Rev. Herman Bezunartea officiating.

Mr. Martin, a native of Akron, Ohio, had retired from AT&T and was an Army veteran. He was a member of the Masons, 32nd degree, Hephzibah.

The family said he was an avid reader and enjoyed working with computers and electronics.

Survivors include his wife, Nelly Martin; two sons, Michael Martin, Augusta, and Steven Martin, Charleston, S.C.; one daughter, Patricia Harris, Hephzibah; three brothers, Charles K. Martin, Florida, James A. Martin, Georgia, and Dwight D. Martin, South Carolina; one sister, Donna Jean Carswell, Georgia; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mariposa Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A Fatal Chill.
Merced, Peter Fee, charged with attempted murder in Mariposa County, and
out on bail, died near Snelling with a congestive chill suddenly.

Sudden Death.
Fresno, February 2d. Judge K. H. Daly, a lawyer, and ex- Judge of Mariposa county, aged
56 years, died suddenly at half-past 7 this morning.

A Merced County Pioneer Died.
MERCED, Cal., Nov. 29. - John Keys, a pioneer farmer and
stock-raiser in this county, died at his home at Lone Tree this morning. He leaves a large estate unincumbered, and his only relative in this State is a brother living
in Mariposa County. Mr. Keys was a native of Virginia, 69 years of age and unmarried.

A Town-starter Dead.
Merced, February 2d.- A. C. Hill, an old pioneer miller and farmer of Mariposa and Merced counties, died here this afternoon. Deceased followed mining many years on the
Merced River, and early in the '60s opened a farm on the San Joaquin River. He started the town of Dover, which was an important shipping point before the advent of the railroads.

Death of a Pioneer.
SALINAS, June 15.â€" John A. Beevers, a pioneer of 1847, a native of Tennessee, and aged 77 years, died from a stroke of paralysis this morning. He was well known in San
Joaquin, San Diego, Mariposa, Monterey and other counties. He was at one time a prominent sheep raiser. He leaves eleven children, all in comfortable circumstances.
