Sutter's Fort, 28th and L Street
Sutter's Fort was begun in 1839 by Captain John A.
Sutter to protect his 76 square mile land grant from Mexico, called New
Helvetia. The two story central building, made of adobe and oak, remains
from the original fort.

Wells Fargo Bank, B.F. Hastings Building, Southwest Corner
Second and J
This operating bank facility is a replica of the original Wells Fargo
and Co. banking operation, established in 1852.

Calif. State Supreme Courtroom, B.F. Hastings Building,
Southwest Corner Second and J
The first permanent home of the Supreme Court in 1855 was the Hastings
Building. Sessions were held there until 1869, with the exception of
1858, when the court moved to the Jansen Building on 4th and J.

Supreme Court Clerks' Room, B.F. Hastings Building, Southwest
Corner Second and J
This room, adjacent to the Supreme Courtroom, contains many artifacts of
the 1850 period including a pine desk of 1850 vintage, a bookcase made
for B.F. Hastings, an original William L. Gilbert wall clock (1860), a
horn tankard (1853), and many more interesting antiques.
