Laytons Note 100 Years of Close Family Ties
Mr. and Mrs. John B. Layton of 2685 Ringgold Street, married 50 years, can look back on more than 100 years of close family histories. Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Fisher and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Layton, crossed the continent to California in the same wagon train in 1849. Mrs. Layton, who was Iva Fisher, and Layton were born in Alturas, Modoc County, where they were married on January 6, 1907. We owned a livery stable there several years. They came to Sacramento in 1943 after operating the Home Hotel in Susanville, Lassen County, 9 years.
They have a daughter, Mrs. George Freeland, and a grandchild, Billy, who live in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The Freelands and other relatives and friends attended an open house last Sunday in honor of the Laytons. [Sacramento Bee, 1-12-1957. Submitted by Kathie Kloss Marynik.]

T. C. Perkins, Bride Are On Honeymoon
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Calley Perkins (Shirley Rockingham Ayres) are honeymooning in Southern California and Mexico following their marriage Sunday in the Little Chapel of the Flowers in Berkeley. Only the members of the immediate families attended the informal ceremony. The bride wore a pale gray dress with a yoke of solid pearl embroidery and medallions of pearls on the jacket collar. Her accessories were gray, white, and black. Her flowers were white orchids. Mrs. E. Gibson, the bride's sister, was her attendant, and Carl Lals of Concord was the best man for his nephew. The pair were feted at a reception in the El Nedo Rancho in Lafayette following the services. They will make their home here. Perkins has been practicing law in Sacramento for two years. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. William H. Rockingham of 1349 Thirty-Seventh Street and the late William H. Rockingham. She attended the local schools and was graduated from the University of California where her sorority was Chi Omega. Perkins also was graduated from local schools and the University of California. He attended the Harvard Law School. His fraternity at the university was Theta Delta Chi. His grandfather, the late T. C. Perkins, settled here in 1850. The town of Perkins was named for the latter.
