Nettie Shapiro [pd]
Nettie "Nettie Bear" Shapiro was born on June 2, 1917 in Louisville, KY. She died of natural causes in Orange county, CA. on July 29, 2006. Nettie was married on May 6, 1939 in Chicago, IL, to Joe Shapiro who passed away in 2004.
She leaves twin sons, Stanley (Joyce) of Hunington Beach, CA. and Philip of San Diego, CA; five grandchildren, Jay, David (Michele), Russell (Heather), Lyle and Mindi (Ricky)
and eight great-grandchildren, Rider, Nick, Ella, Clara, Kali, Kainoa, Lily and Celeste.
Nettie was a well-known and beloved per-school teacher for over 50 years in Chicago and San Diego.
She was known as "Nettie Bear" by many students, parents and co- workers. For the last 20 year she taught in La Jolla, Ca., at Congregation Beth El and the Jewish Community Center.
Services will be held Wednesday Aug. 2, 2006 at the Jewish Community Gardens section of El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego.

Charles Sklarewitz [pd]
Charles Sklarewitz, 79, died July 28, 2006 at Tri -City Medical Center, Oceanside, CA of respiratory failure. A native of Whiting, Indiana, Chuck received early graduation from Ehiting High School in Order to enlist in the U.S. Navy in 1944 at the age of 17. He saw extensive combat duty through the Pacific War including the Battle of Okinawa. He left the service in 1956 with rank of Chief Petty officer.
Survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Beatice Chester of Vancouver, BC, Canada, daughter Beverly McCalla, son Micheal, brother Norman and two grandchildren.
Interment is to be conducted on Aug. 3, 2006 at El Camino Memorial Park, San Diego.

SCHWERER - In this city, May 6, 1900, Marie, wife of Frederick Schwerer, a native of Germany, aged 60 years.  Friends are invited to attend the funeral from Johnson & Connell's chapel, D and Seventh streets, at 1:30 p.m. today, thence to St. Joseph's hospital, where services will be held.[San Diego Union and Daily Bee, 5/8/1900, pg 8:2. SCHWEARER-in this city, March 10th, 1906 Frederick Schwearer a native of Germany, age 83 years. Friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Johnson and Connell's Chapel, F and 7th streets at 10 O'clock a.m. tomorrow (Tuesday).  Internment at Mt. Hope. [San Diego Union, 3/17/1906. SILVA, ANTHONY M.

Recitation of the Rosary for Anthony M. Silva, 67, of 224 Second Avenue, Chula Vista, will be at 7 PM today in Humphrey Mortuary Chapel. Requiem Mass will be said at 8:15 AM tomorrow in St. Rose of Lima Church. Private interment is planned. Silva, a native of Portugal, died Saturday in a Chula Vista hospital. He lived here 14 years and was a motel owner. He is survived by his widow, Ann M., and five daughters, including Mrs. Kenneth E. Terry and Mrs. Cloe Somerbelle, both of Chula Vista. STODDART, BRUCE

Masonic services for Bruce Stoddart, 61, of 1835 Venice Street, an inspector for the Solar Division of International Harvester Co., will be at 3 PM today in Little Chapel of the Roses at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, Silvergate Lodge 296, F&AM, of which he was a member, will be in charge. Stoddart, who died Wednesday in a hospital, was a native of Goldfield, CO, and a county resident 55 years. He was graduated from San Diego High School, attended California State University, San Diego, and received a degree in business management from San Diego City College. He was a member of Darius-San Diego Chapter 61, Royal Arch Masons; San Diego Council 23, Royal and Select Masters; San Diego Commandery 25, Knights Templar, and Oui Vive Dance Club. Survivors include his widow, Ruth B.; a stepson; a brother, Henry of San Diego; and two sisters, including Mrs. Margaret Moynahan of San Diego. Burial will be in Glen Abbey Memorial Park. SUTER, BERTHA nee OTT

Mrs. Bertha O. Suter, 65, of 847 H Avenue, Coronado, who was cashier at La Avenida Restaurant in Coronado, died Thursday in a hospital. A native of Switzerland and a naturalized US citizen, Mrs. Suter came to San Diego County __ years ago. She was a member of the San Diego Swiss Club and the Coronado Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. Surviving are her husband, Walter E.; two daughters, including Mrs. Rita Leiser of Escondido, and eight grandchildren. There will be no services. Cremation is planned with inurnment in Glen Abbey Memorial Park. Humphrey’s Chula Vista Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. [San Diego Union, Saturday, 7-14-1973. Submitted by K. Marynik]
