Remarks: Note on application states "Applicant states that (he) (she) is to be married before departure and intends to leave New York on Sept. 13 he requests that passport be issued to read 'accompanied by wife,'...the passport to be sent to this office and held until presentation of marriage certificate.
Another note on application says July 6, 1922
I arrived in this country in 1886 and applied for and received a naturalization certificate after only three years of residence in this country. No objections were raised to my being naturalized at the time because of my having been in the country for only three years. In explanation of my continuous residence in Australia for six years from 1914 to 1920 desire to say that Adelaide is the home of my wife and it was for the purpose of being with her that I remained there for these six years. During those six years I registered regularly every year with the American Consul at Adelaide. My wife and two children, one of whom was born in the United States, are now residing in Australia and I am asking for a passport to enable me to visit them. I am unable to state at this time definitely how long I shall remain in Australia.
