MAHAN, DON LESTER
Don L. Mahan, 55, Exeter, former Tularean and brother of a Tularean, died Wednesday in a Visalia hospital following a long illness. He was born in Santa Paula, graduated from high school there and ranched in that area until 1945 when he moved to Tulare. He moved to Exeter in 1957 where he has been ranching. He was a member of the Tulare County Farm Bureau and the Exeter Methodist Church.He is survived by his wife, Helen Mahan, Exeter; two sons, Bob and Dale Mahan, Exeter; two grandsons; his mother, Mrs. Mabel Mahan, Oildale; three brothers, W. J. Mahan, Ojai, Oris Mahan, Redding, and Dean Mahan, Tulare; and a sister, Mrs. Nell Dare, Oildale. Funeral services will be announced by the Myers Funeral Chapel, Exeter. MAHAN, GEORGE SISSON

George S. Mahan, 74, 351 No. H Street, Tulare, a resident here 11 years, died today at a local hospital. He was a native of Camarillo. A retired farmer for the past four years and a member of the Tulare First Methodist Church, Mahan is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mabel H. Mahan; four sons, Alan Dean Mahan and Don Lester Mahan, Tulare; William Jack Mahan, Ojai, and Oris A. Mahan, Redding; a daughter, Mrs. Ira (Mabel Nell) Dare, Torrence; and two sisters, Mrs. William P. (Jessie) Couch, Pasadena, and Mrs. U. D. (Gussie) Underwood, Moorpark; and 10 grandchildren. MAHAN, MABEL nee Hagans
Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday in Hamilton Peers-Lorentzen Funeral Chapel for Mabel Hagens Mahan, 97, 3012 W. Inyo Ave., who died Wednesday at the home of her daughter in Lorane, OR. Mrs. Mahan came to California at the age of 3. She entered Oakland High School, Oakland, in 1907 and in 1912 married George S. Mahan in Santa Paula. They came to Tulare in 1944 and worked a farm west of Tulare until Mahan’s retirement in 1950. He died in 1955. Mrs. Mahan was a housewife and a seamstress and a member of United Methodist Church, Tulare.She is survived by two sons, Alan “Dean” Mahan, Tulare, and Jack Mahan, Ojai; a daughter, Nell Dare, Lorane, OR; and 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. The Rev. David Campbell, Cambria, First Baptist Church, will officiate. He is a great-grandson of Mrs. Mahan. She will be buried in [Tulare Cemetery beside the grave of her husband. RABBIT BONE WOUND CAUSES BOY‘S DEATH
TULARE, June 29—Ray Sisson, eight years old, is dead here today of infection suffered when he stepped on the bones of a rabbit he had killed several days previously and cut up for chicken feed. The boy was walking through a pen when a sharp pointed bone penetrated his foot. A small fragment remained in the wound, and the infection followed.[Submitter’s note: Ray was the first-born son of Hugh & Ethel Sisson] [Visalia Times, June 29, 1928. Edith Sisson
Services will be at 1 PM Monday in Hamilton Peers-Lorentzen Funeral Chapel for former Tipton resident Edith Roselee Sisson, 92, Sanger, who died Wednesday at home. Mrs. Sisson was born in California and lived in Tipton from 1918 until 1965. She was a homemaker. She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Constance, Sanger, and Evelyn Chumley, Tehachapi; one sister, Lila Buckley, Orange County; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be noon to 5 PM Saturday and noon to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM Sunday at Wallin & Son Funeral Home in Sanger. Burial will be in Tulare Cemetery. SISSON, EMERSON WHITFIELD

LAST RITES HELD FOR E. W. SISSON
Funeral services were held at the Hamilton Peers Chapel here this afternoon at 2:30 o’clock for Emerson Whitfield Sisson, 76, Tulare resident since 1917 who died Saturday. Mr. Sisson leaves three sons here, Hugh Sisson, Walter E. Sisson and Roy E. Sisson, and a son at Tipton, Harry R. Sisson; a foster son at Los Angeles, William Rivers, and a foster daughter at Oxnard, Maude Groff; and several grandchildren. His wife, Mrs. Annabelle Sisson, died here in 1938.A member of the Tulare First Baptist Church, Sisson was a retired carpenter and builder. He was a native of Sacramento.
Rev. Dorland Dryer officiated at the funeral rites. Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Askin sang. The four sons, Hugh, Walter, Roy and Harrison Sisson, and two grandsons, Harold and Glynn Sisson, were pallbearers. [ Tulare Advance Register, November 3, 1941. Submitted by Kathie Marynik. ]

Ethel Sisson dead at 79
Services will be held at 1 PM Friday in Peers-Lorentzen Funeral Chapel for longtime Tularean Ethel Irene Sisson, 79, 2417 E. Bardsley Ave., who died today in a Tulare hospital. Mrs. Sisson was born in Porterville and attended Tulare schools. She was graduated from Tulare Union High School in 1918 and was a housewife for 62 years. She was a member of Tulare First Baptist Church.She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Hugh Sisson, Tulare; two sons, Glynn Sisson, Tulare, and Jack Sisson, Visalia; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Glynn Sisson Sr.

Private services will be held Saturday at Hamilton Peers-Lorentzen Funeral Chapel for Glynn Edmond Sisson Sr., 59, 2417 E. Bardsley Ave., who died Thursday at his home. A native of Tulare, Sisson was graduated in 1942 from Tulare Union High School. During World War II, he served in the Army. He was a self-employed farmer and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the First Baptist Church.
Sisson is survived by a son, Glynn Sisson Jr., Loveland, CO; a daughter, Gale Powers, Santa Barbara; a brother, Jack Sisson, Visalia; and two grandchildren. The Rev. Cremation services are being planned in La Crescenta for former Tipton resident Harold Sisson, 61, La Crescenta. He was born and raised in Tipton and graduated from Tulare Union High School in 1938. He had lived in Southern California for the past 20 years. He was employed by Bank of America as a bank site locater and building project director. He is survived by his wife, Helen, and two children, all of La Crescenta; two sisters, Evelyn Chumley, Tehachapi, and Marilyn Constance, Fresno, and mother, Edith Sisson, Bakersfield. HARRY R. SISSON
Funeral services for Harry Richard Sisson, 73, who died in a Sanger hospital, Wednesday, will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday in the Hamilton Peers Funeral Service Chapel. The Rev. Harry Beier, Salem Congregational Church, Sanger, will officiate. Burial will be in the Tulare Cemetery with rites by the Tipton American Legion Post. Services are under the direction of Wallin and Son Funeral Home, Sanger.Sisson, a native of California, was a retired manager of the Burnett Lumber Yard, Tipton, for 38 years and had lived in Tipton for 40 years. He is survived by his widow, Edith, Sanger; a son, Harold Sisson, La Crescenta; two daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Constance, Sanger; and Mrs. Evelyn Chumley, Delano; three brothers, Walter Sisson, Visalia; Hugh Sisson, Tulare, and Roy Sisson, Garberville; several grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. SISSON, HUGH HENRY

Hugh Sisson

Services will be held at 1 PM Thursday at Hamilton Peers-Lorentzen Funeral Chapel for Hugh Henry Sisson, 86, 2417 E. Bardsley Ave., who died Monday at a Tulare hospital as a result of a traffic accident Monday night in Tulare. A native of Hemet, Sisson lived in Tulare since 1910. He was an Army veteran of World War I.On Dec. 14, 1919, Sisson married the former Ethel Carpenter in Tulare. The couple built their Bardsley Avenue home on land that was part of 160 acres homesteaded by Mrs. Sisson’s grandfather, Charles Carpenter, with a deed that was signed by Ulysses S. Grant. Mrs. Sisson died on May 12, 1982. Sisson was a farmer and for 36 years served as director of the Tulare Irrigation District. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Sisson is survived by two sons, Glynn Sisson, Tulare, and Jack Sisson, Visalia; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The Rev. Vern Thompson, First Baptist Church, will officiate. Mrs. Roy Sisson, 46, Dies Here Yesterday
Mrs. Roy (Lena Lawing) Sisson, 46, a native of Ozarks, MO, died at her home, 639 So. Sacramento Street, yesterday. A 42-year-long resident of Tulare, Mrs. Sisson was graduated from local schools and married Roy Sisson, who survives, in June 1924. She was a member of Enterprise Rebekah Lodge No. 118 and the First Christian Church.Survivors include her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Miller, Visalia, and Mrs. Virginia Wilson, Tulare, and one grandson. Services will be at 2:30 PM Saturday at the Hamilton Peers Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. A. Jackson Bailes officiating. Services are pending at Peers Funeral Services for Roy E. Sisson, 73, Redway, who died Tuesday in a Fortuna hospital. Sisson was a native of Camarillo and had lived in Redway for the past five years. Prior to that time, he had lived in Tulare for over 40 years and was a service station operator. He last worked at a station which was located on the corner of N Street and Tulare Avenue.He is survived by his wife, Lila, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Rommel, Lindsay, and Mrs. Virginia Wilson, Pasadena; two stepdaughters, Lois Wilmar, Paso Robles, and Mrs. Jean Pollard, Redway; a brother, Hugh Sisson, Tulare; and 10 grandchildren. WALTER E. SISSON
Funeral services for Walter Emerson Sisson, 79, who died Tuesday, will be held at 10 AM Friday in the Peers Funeral Service Chapel. The Rev. Leo Harrison of the Foursquare Church will officiate. Burial will be in Tulare Cemetery beside his wife, Florence, who died in 1942. Sisson, a retired ranch worker, lived at 571 S. Santa Clara St., and was a native of Camarillo. He had lived in Tulare for the past 54 years and was a veteran of World War I. Survivors include two sons, Earl Sisson, Norwalk, and Bernard Sisson, Paramount; two brothers, Hugh Sisson, Tulare, and Roy Sisson, Garberville, and eight grandchildren.
