John Lagomarsino, the Ventura wholesale liquor dealer, was in the city yesterday.
 
James W. Evans, manager of Easton, Eldridge & Co., at Chino, visited Oxnard Friday.
 
Wm. Fowler, Chris Reiman and Fred Barusch represented Oxnard in los Angeles this week.
 
Fred Baruch returned Thursday from his winter vacation, which he had well earned by close and consistent application to business.
 
John Dusch has joined the Pioneers.  He has resided in the county 9 years and is the only member of the society residing on the town site.
 
Mr. Schiappie?ra is the owner of the large and valuable ranch north of the river which bears his name.
 
Ventura Independent:  Thomas Arundel, a native of England, aged 78, died January 1, 1900.  He was a pioneer of Ventura county and was one of the first brick masons in the county and built some of the first brick buildings erected in San Buena Ventura.  in 1881 he built the vault in the County Recorder's office.
 
August Binent of the factory, who went to Ventura a couple of weeks ago to have a surgical operation performed, has returned to Oxnard.  The operation was performed successfully by Dr. Bard, assisted by Drs. Broughton and Glascock.  Mr. Bienert will remain under the care of Dr. Broughton until he is fully recovered.
 
John H. Rathbone, Secretary of the Patterson Ranch company, has arrived from the East, accompanied by his wife, six-year-old child and governess.  They have rooms at the Hotel Oxnard, Mr. Rathbone was here some weeks since on a tour of inspection and met many of our business men.  Now he will become a resident.
 
Gone to Rocky Ford
Wm. Winterbalter, of the agricultural department at the factory, left Tuesday evening for Rocky Ford Colorado, where he will be charge de affairs of his department at the new 1000 ton beet sugar factory which the Oxnards are about to erect there.  Mr. Winterhalter was accompanied as far as San Francisco by his wife, mother, Mrs. Humphrey and her son.  Mrs. Winterhalter will visit friends there and in northern California for a week before joining her husband at Rocky Ford.  Oxnard is very sorry to lose Mr. and Mrs. Winterhalter.  They have made many friends here who find it hard to be reconciled to their departure but rejoice in Mr. Winterhalter's advancement, a mark of the company's appreciation of his services, and wish them happiness and success in their new home.
