Russell Darr Meets Death in West, Telegram Says; No Details Given.
Russell Darr, 34, native of Roscoe and former resident
of Coshocton, was shot and killed in Meeker, Colorado near a ranch
where he was working sometime Sunday, according to wires received
here today by Charles Darr, North Fifteenth St., a brother. Details
of the shooting could not be learned by members of the family late
today.
Charles Darr of this city contracted Colorado officials
by telephone late last night, and was told by the wife of the
sheriff of Rio Blanco county, Colorado, that his brother's death was
being investigated, but no official word had been released.
Russell Darr was born in Roscoe, the son of French and
Prudence Darr. He spent his early life in Coshocton county, and was
a railroad employe working out of Dennison for several years. He
moved to Colorado about 14 years ago, and has worked on a ranch
there ever since.
Surviving are two children, Kenton and Aileen, of
Pueblo, Colorado, who are visiting relatives here, seven brothers,
Joseph, Alonzo, Elihu, Enoch and Frank of the Tunnel Hill vicinity,
John of Holmes County and Charles of Coshocton, and one sister, Mrs.
Pearl McCluggage of Coshocton route 5.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at the
ranch near Rangely, Col. Burial will be in a Colorado cemetery.
