COLORADO GAME WARDENS AFTER INDIAN HUNTERS
Meeker, Colo., Nov. 29-Word came in last night from a
ranchman named Joseph McKee that a large band of Indians passed Rangely six days
ago headed for Spring Creek and Yellow creek. It is believed that they are
killing deer in that section.
The deputies and the game wardens left their wagons and heavy
stuff at Angora and have taken camping outfits and saddle horses and are in
pursuit of the Indians. They expect to overtake them before tomorrow evening.
The only possible way for the Indians to escape is by getting
some word from ranchmen or persons in sympathy with them.
An attempt will be made to arrest them and bring them here
for trial it is also reported that two large bands are encamped in Coyote basin.

Founder of Greeley Was Massacred by Indians 51 Years Ago on Monday
By A.B.
Copeland
This is a reminder to the general public that today, Sept. 29, 1930,
is the fifty-first anniversary of the Meeker Massacre at the White River Indian
agency in Rio Blanco county; also that day after tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 1, is
the first anniversary of the opening of the Meeker Memorial museum at the old
Meeker home, 1324 Ninth avenue. The year that has elapsed since the opening had
developed a marked interest in this memorial to the founder of Greeley as shown
by the record of attendance, by the contributions in both gifts and loans to the
collection and by the use of the museum by teachers and pupils. These
anniversary dates lead me to repeat my cordial invitation for continued and
increased use of the museum. There are still many people in Greeley and
vicinity, both old timers and later arrivals, who are just on the point of
making this visit but, who never seem to get around to it. Come next Wednesday
and help me begin the second year with a busy day. I need information from the
old timers and suggestions from everybody to enable me to make this institution
what it ought to be, a clearing house of local history and biography as well as
a repository of relics and curios. (Submitted by S. Williams)
