Alice T. Hudson: 1890-1992
Alice T. Hudson, 101, died May 8, 1992, in Oak Creek at the home of
her son. She was born August 5, 1890, to John and Sara Twibey in
Derbyshire, England. Alice spent her childhood in England, where she
was educated. On March 8, 1913, Alice married Harry Hudson. From
their marriage they had two sons, Eric and Hayden. Hayden preceded
her in death. Harry and Alice came to Routt County in 1922 along
with Alice's mother. While in Oak Creek, Alice was involved with her
community. During the war she would write to servicemen and send
baked goods. Alice was also actively involved with the Red Cross.
One of her biggest accomplishments was her initiative in getting the
South Rutt Medical Center established. Alice also ran the RIO
Theatre of Aok Creek. In her leisure time Alice loved to walk, fish,
crochet, bake and be with people. According to her grandson, she
kept all the children in third addition supplied with cookies, candy
and hugs. Alice was a firm believer in God, which kept her strong
through the death of her son Hayden and her husband who died in
1971.
Alice will be remembered by family and friends as a caring person
who would go out of her way to help someone, whether stranger or
family. She showed a sense of humor that was often hard to
understand - but both her and her victim would end up with a big
smile.
Alice leaves behind four generations of a loving family including
her son Eric and wife Bonnie of Oak Creek; granddaughters Nancy and
Glen Bronnenburg of Oak Creek, Debbie and Glenn Paxton of Oak Creek,
Marla and Jerry Biterstein of Littleton, Janice and Larry Cookman of
Lynnwood, Washington and grandson Rick Hudson of Seattle,
Washington. She had nine great-grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren. This family was the highlight of her
life.
The funeral service for Alice was held Wednesday, May 13, at the
Shearon Funeral Home of Steamboat Springs with Reverence Bob Parker
officiating. Active pallbearers were Glen Bronnenberg, Glenn Paxton,
Dave Daschle, Rodney Wilson, Bob Vine and Robert Paxton. Burial
followed in the Oak Creek Cemetery. Services were directed by Mark
Shearon, Shearon Funeral Home. (Submitted by Peggy Thompson)
