Miss Genie Smith, a bright accomplished young lady of Petersburg, Va who has been visiting her aunt, Mrs. S. J. Darby, of this city, left Thursday for her home.

Mrs. Wm H. Stewart of Washington, D.C. is visiting this city, the guest of her brother, Capt. R.C. Heiberger. Mrs. Stewart will remain here during the remainder of the winter.
The many friends of Mr. D. B. Knight were glad to see him on our streets Saturday. Mr. Knight is still weak from the effects of a recent paralytic stroke but bids fair to fully recovered.
Rev. Samuel J. McCracken returned to Jacksonville Tuesday after being in Starke about two months. Mr. McCracken made many friends here who wish him much success in his work.
J.L. Frazee, Esq. enjoyed a comp hunt in San Pulasaki hammock last week with the Stringfellow brothers and other congenial spirits of Gainesville. The party killed one deer and an abundance of small game.
Mr. E. Strong and daughters, Misses Kit, Menetha and Mrs. H.R. Sheldon, and Mr. Spettegue have returned from a visit to Cuba. Mrs. Strong remained at St. Petersburg during the absence of the party to look after her little grand-daughter, the young hopeful of the Sheldon household.

Mr. J.C. Davis has purchased the place of Mr. D.W. Currier, near the Methodist church, and will move into town.

Mr. Richard Ray, formerly of Quitman, Ga has purchased the place of Mr. K.L. Adams in the northwestern part of town and, with his estimable family, will become a permanent resident of Starke. The many friends whom Mr. Ray and family have made here are delighted to know that they are to be with us permanently. The price paid for the place was $750.
Married:
Mr. D.R. Byrd and Miss A.C. Byrd were married by Judge Malphurs Monday at his residence on Jefferson Street.
Died:
Mrs. Andrews, widow of the late John Andrews died Monday at her home about two miles south of town.
Death of Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas
Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas died of dropsy at the home of her son on Swift Creek, Friday, March 1st, 1895, aged 65 years. Mrs. Thomas was born and reared in Ware county, Georgia, and removed to this county about twenty years ago. She was buried at the Douglas cemetery.
Happy are those who die in the Lord.
County Judge's Court:
Judge Malphurs disposed of the following cases during the week:
John Pate, carrying concealed weapon (metallic knucks) fined $10 and cost of the court.
J.L. Wynn, larcency of a horse, examination waived, and held in bond of $200.
Charlie Young, assault with intent to murder, removed to jail in default of $500 bond.
