Rites Conducted For J. P. Dykes, Mariettan's Kin
Bleckley Warden, Father of Marietta Teacher, Died Monday
Funeral services were conducted this afternoon in Cochran for James Perry Dykes, 58, warden of
Bleckley county and father of Miss Nellie Dykes, member of the high
school faculty here.
Mr. Dykes, for eight years Bleckley county commissioner died Monday
morning in Macon following a heart attack Sunday morning. He was holder
of large farming interests.
Last rites were held from the Cochran Baptist church where he held his
membership for many years.
In addition to his wife, the former Miss Susie Petty ana his Marietta
daughter he is survived by eleven other children, Mrs. Alan McDougal,
of Lake City, Fla., Mrs J. B. Thompson, Jr., of Columbus; Mrs. Ralph
Finney, of Mobile; Roy Dykes, of Reidsville; Sam Dykes,
of Gainesville;. James. Syndall, David, Jerry and Misses Hurley and
Maiorie of Cochran. Bleckley Warden, Father Dies Monday

Newnan Veteran Is Buried Here
Last rites for Levi S. Waggoner,
45, of Newman. who died Sunday in Veterans' hospital after an illness
of four months,, were conducted this morning at the graveside in the
Marietta National cemetery. The Rev. W. at Albert officiated.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter and two sisters.

Two Georgians Die After Duel
Macon, Ga., Sept 26,—W. Boseman,
30 years of age, a farmer of BIeckley county, and his
brother-in-law, Oliver Pitkin. years of, age, died at the clinic on
Mulberry street, in Macon, yesterday from, wounds received In a shot
gun duel staged on the streets of Cary Ga., 30 mites from Macon
Saturday evening:, Both were wounded in the abdomen. Bozeman was
married and the father ot three children.
The shooting is said to have been the outgrowth of an argument between
the two men regarding $30 Bozemen owed Pitkin. Pitkin is said to have
appeared at the Bozeman home last Friday and demanded the money.

MRS.T. D. WALKER,
COCHRAN, June 25, The funeral of Mrs.
T. D. Walker, who died at her home in Cochran Monday
at the age of 50, after being ill for over a year, was held yesterday
afternoon, at 4 o'clock, Rev. P. A. Jessup, Rev., Lamar Sims and
Rev. W. H. Parks conducting the services. Mrs. Walker was the wife of
Dr. T. D. Walker and besides her husband leaves seven children and
several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Walker came to Cochran many years
ago with her father, J. G. Obery; from North Carolina. She was a leader
in the Baptist church here, and several hundred pople were present
yesterday to pay a last tribute to her.
