Folkston Ga.-Funeral services
for Joe Brown Cartrett, 63, of Folkston who died Thursday in an
automobile accident,
will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in
Folkston. Survivors
include his widow, Mrs.Naomi Cartrett, Folkston; four sons, J.W,
Cartrett, Douglas, Gs., and Calvin Cartrett, Nathanil Cartrett and
Raymond Cartrett, all of Folkston; four sisters, Mrs. James Couey,
Alston, Ga., Mrs. James
Eudell, Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Eddie Whitfield, Augusta, and Mrs.
Irene Kennedy, Charlotte, N. C.; and three brothers, R.L. Cartrett,
Lyman, S. C. Elton L. Cartrett, Augusta, and Frank Cartrett, Aliey, Ga.

Michael Ira Johns, 21, of Folkston
died Saturday when the car in which he was riding struck a utility pole
13 miles south of
Folkston on Georgia 23 in Charlton County, troopers said.

Stokes
Folkston Ga. Albert P.Stokes,
died Friday in Folkston,
Graveside services were at 2 p.m.Sunday in Pineview Cemetery. Mr. Stokes was a lifelong resident
of Folkston and owner of Stokes Motor Co. He was a member of First
United Methodist Church,
Folkston. Survivors
include his wife. Juanita Stokes; a daughter, Maria Ray, Savannah; and
three sisters, Kay S Bryant, Augusta, Nancy Shuman, Jesup, and Bonnie

Marshal of Folkston Was Shot
by Thomas Folkston, Ga, Oct, 5
Folkston Ga., Oct, 6.—B. H. Williams; town marshal, was
fatally shot early this marnlng by F. A. Thomas. Thomas called at the home of
Williams where his wife was spending the night He quarreled with his wife and
shot at her, whereupon Williams fired his pistol at Thomas. Thomas
returned the fire with
deadly effect Thomas was said to be intoxicated, he was arrested and
placed in Jail by Sheriff-elect Mizell,

Folkston Man Kills Marshal
Tried to Kill Wife Who Fled to Marshal's Home for Protection
She Refused To Be
Enticed Away
He Fired at Her and the
Marshal Appeared on Scene and Shot Three Times Without Effect When the
Officer
Was Shot and Killed.
Folkston Ga.. Oct 5.—After
attempting to kill his wife who had taken refuge from his abuse at the
home of Marshal Williams,
F. A. Thomas, blacksmith, this morning killed the officer. The
coroner held Thomas on the charge of
premeditated murder. Shortly after midnight, Thomas,
who had run his wife away from home, went to the marshal's home, called for his wife and told her
that her father had been killed. She feared to accompany him, and
started
back into the house. Thomas
fired at her with a shot gun. Williams ran out. and fired his
revolver three times without effect. Thomas returned the fire and
Williams fell dead in the doorway with; a load of buckshot In his right
side
