The annual session of the Georgia Baptist assembly will open tomorrow in the splendid auditorium which stands in the center of picturesque grounds. Dr. Alex W. Beaver, of Eastman, will appear on the first program, which has been arranged by Mr. George W. Andrews, platform manager. Indications point to this being the best session yet held. More Baptists are gathering here for the summer than ever before, and most of them have purchased cottages. Hundreds will be here for the assembly, which will last two weeks. Monday night theme will be the first of a series of concerts. Miss Mary Edwards, of Eastman, will be the reader at these concerts. Rev. Alex W. Bealer, of Eastman, will assist in the concerts, giving some humorous readings. The vocalists for the concerts will be Miss Rebbie Upchurch, of Atlanta; Mrs. John W. Arnold, of Monre, and Miss Sarah Frances Fulghum, of Bessie Tift college, at Forsyth. The instrumental music will be furnished by an orchestra and special features will be given by Miss Maud Oliver, of Elberton. These concerts will be given every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights for the next two weeks. Every morning for the next two weeks there will be a meeting of the leaders n the Woman's Baptist Missionary union. A unique feature of the assembly will be an illustrated sermon each morning by Rev. Alex W. Bealer. His talks are styled "The Gospel in Chalk." Each morning from 11 to 12 there will be a sermon from Dr. F. C. McConnell, of Waco, Texas. Two days of the assembly have been set apart for days of sport for the young people under the direction of Dr. R. VanDeventer. of Jackson. On the evening of Wednesday, August 12, there will be a lecture by Prof. R. J. H. DeLoach, of Experiment. On August 9 there will be an all-day singing to which will come the Sunday schools from the surrounding mountain churches. The assembly will close on Sunday, August 16, with a spiritual feast. The mountain people form the surrounding country will be given a pressing invitation to come to this meeting. It is expected that hundreds will be here, each bringing baskets with them. There will be an old-fashioned dinner on the grounds. Numbers of new cottages have been built and the new school for girls, the Mary Willingham Industrial and Normal school, will soon be finished and ready for work. During the assembly the corner-stone will be laid with appropriate ceremonies.
