Atlanta, May 20. ~ Mary Dillard, under sentence of ten years in the penitentiary for the the shooting and killing
of Will Felmett in Fannin County in May last, was brought to Atlanta last night and placed in jail here for safe
keeping until she is sent to the state farm. The authorities of Fannin County were afraid to keep her in jail in that
county, as it was believed that a movement was on foot to lynch her. Felmett was a railroad man and was quite popular
in Fannin. His friends were disappointed that a death sentence did no follow as a result of the trial of the case. The
Dillard woman is about 30 years of age and says that she shot Felmett because he was trying to force his way
into her house.
