Fayetteville Tragedy. M. S. Carter Was Killed by Dave Campbell
Sylacauga. Ala., Feb 21.—M. S. Carter, section boss of the Louisville and Nashville railroad at Fayetteville,  Ala. was shot and killed by Dave Campbell yesterday.
From what can be learned it seems that Campbell had killed Carters fine bird dog for killing his (Campbell's) geese. This occurred some weeks ago, and Carter has written Campbell a note stating that he (Campbell) had to pay him one hundred dollars of he would do him as he had done his dog.
He had also made this statement verbally to Campbell several times, and told him Sunday the next time they met it must be settled.
Yesterday morning Campbell was standing on the porch of W. I. Phillips' store at Fayetteville when Carter came up. Campbell turned and fired five times at him, three shots taking effect.
The first entered to the right of the nose and caused almost instant death; the other two went in the left and right sides. One shot struck a post. glanced across the street and hit Cage Stricklin in the cheek and ranged around to the rear. Stricklin only has flesh wound
